Now that the nvidia 10 series laptop gpu(s) are out, I'm ready to get a new laptop, maybe a clevo p670rs-g? I have some questions about it though. I have a w110er and the optimus system i never really liked. This p670rs-g has intel and nvidia graphics, how is it different than a w110er optimus setup? It says this:

User Switchable between Microsoft Hybrid Graphics Mode or dGPU Mode

    Support 4 active displays

Support NVIDIA Surround View via HDMI x1 and Mini DP x2

is dGPU mode switched in bios? Does that make it a discrete gpu?

Does the p670rs-g have thunderbolt 3 port?

How does this laptop with g-sync screen compare to any MSI ones? That could get a 120hz screen? Does msi ones come with g-sync?

Have the bios of clevos changed much since w110er, like more options to choose/tweak?

You can default to the dedicated as 'always on' by making a change in the system BIOS (use the dGPU mode option). Then there's no switching.

    Afraid not. :\

They've changed a bit, but very little in the way you're asking about.

And in dedicated mode, can one create custom resolutions in the nvidia control panel and also use dsr?

Custom resolution has been added by Intel to their HD graphics test driver. Beta eta is 26th of August (following the situation on Intel forum)

I also have a question regarding this laptop, will the 180w psu be enough for the intel i7 6700hq and the gtx 1070? Other spec would be 16GB ram & 1 TB hard drive. Usage would be purely gaming.

    Thanks

Does that also mean the system will output to a G-Sync compatible external monitor? I had ordered an MSI GT72VR with similar specs, but found out that, while the built-in screen had G-Sync, it was not compatible with external displays so equipped.

To output to the external monitor and GSync, you need to make your GT72VR output only on the NVIDIA GPU and use a Displayport/mini DP port to connect your GSync monitor..

I've been told yes (by R & D), but I don't have a G-Sync monitor here to test. You may need to use use "Dedicated Mode" in the BIOS, rather than "MSHYBRID", for it to work properly.

Thanks, Kemsson. I've been reading with some concern certain reports of 90+ degree GPU temps. At least I know that they should be much lower. I was actually planning on putting my order on hold to wait for more info (which is the wise move) but my order literally just went into production in the last 30 minutes. So I guess that makes me a guinea pig :p

Look, this is a great laptop....but you must be aware that you cannot use an external screen with it at the moment. Some kind of error causes high CPU usage with an external monitor plugged in, which causes lag in everything.

If you don't want to use an external screen, you'll be very happy!
