    Hi,

I've made attachable screens for my laptop using ipad 3/4 retina displays plus abusemark display adapters. They are attached to your laptop with slideable brackets and can be securely carried around when secured to each other using neodymium magnets. I plan on releasing the designs once I have finalized them. A laser cutter and a 3d printer will be required, both of which can be found in your nearest hackerspace.

I have connected them both with the onboard DP connectors. Even though I set all displays to have matching vertical resolutions the Nvidia driver just doesn't interpret the built in display as a viable option for surround. It offers me to do surround with the ipad screens, but doesn't take the built in screen seriously.

Before I go in any more possibly irrelevant details, could it be that the internal eDP display will not be detected as surround capable device just for the fact that it's running on the same DP/eDP lanes? Or is it just that nvidia driver is checking if the device has a flag i.e. "internal=1" for the particular display?

If it's the second option- any suggestions on where to start to make the Nvidia control panel to detect the screen as "external"?

    Thank you in advance!

XMG Mod Of The Month ;-)

I've not had that kind of problem with surround, hopefully someone who has more expreience with un matched display resolutions can help you out here.

    Well, that's pretty neat!

One thing I'm wondering though is, if you didn't take the photos with your DSLR, what did you take them with? o_O

Very cool :) Can you share a screenshot of what your surround option in the nvidia control panel is showing?

I'm not sure that nvidia have PLP (Portrait-Landscape-Portrait) sorted in their drivers which is the likely reason it wont let you select your inbuilt display for surround since it's a different rotation.
