Hi everyone,
I'm planning to get Clevo P751TM1-G with 9700K/9900K and RTX 2080 in the nearest future, and now trying to find out whether Windows 7 will be fully functional on it or not (in other words if all required drivers are available).
I have already found the 1-year-old solution for getting Windows 7 fully functional on the older series of P870TM and P775TM (8th gen CPU, GTX 10X0) with help of installing Asus Rog Maximus X Hero/Strix Z370 motherboard drivers:

http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...lounge-phoenix-4.809589/page-37#post-10641931
Does anyone know if this solution will also work with the newer Clevo PxxxTM1 series, in particular the Clevo P751TM1-G with 9700K/9900K and RTX 20X0? Has anyone already got such laptop configuration and tried this solution?

Well the motherboard is no different, it's just down to the GPU.

(GPU is a no-problem as there are official Windows 7 drivers for 2070/2080 by NVidia) -

IIRC, it's typically the USB 3.0, NVMe, and chipset drivers that cause hang-ups due to lack of native support in Win 7. The NVidia driver shouldn't give you any grief.

Looks like most of the things are in place.
NVMe support updates are already built into my custom Win7 image, plus Samsung drivers for 970EVO for Win7 are available in case if smth goes wrong.
USB 3.0 and chipset should be possible set up with the solution mentioned in the first post (but again not 100% sure if it still works for the newest P751TM1-G with the 9th gen stuff, but really hope that Meaker@Sager is right, this laptop is an expensive purchase that I'm planning to keep for years, so really worrying about this).
And so far it looks like finding the Intel Wifi AC 9260 driver is a problem, at least for now. In the worst case if it doesn't appear in the nearest future, I could possibly replace it with the AC 8265, but that's more of a workaround than a solution.Last edited: Jan 31, 2019 -

The wifi cards are pretty cheap.

I've finally received my new laptop with i9-9900K and RTX 2080.
Sadly, I don't manage to install VGA driver, even though it is for Windows 7.
Have tried many different versions from 411.63 to 419.67, every time I try to run installation the installer says "This NVIDIA driver is not compatible with this version of Windows. This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware".
Has anyone managed to install the RTX driver on Windows 7? If yes, where can I find it?Last edited: Mar 31, 2019steberg likes this. -

As for the issue with lack of Windows 7 drivers on newer 9 series Intel WiFi cards, I bought a Killer 1535 instead, which I like better than the Intels anyway.

The 8xxx series from Intel is pretty much functionally identical too.

They're fine too, I prefer Killer cards though because on my network setup the latency and jitter in online games are slightly better with the 1525/1535 and I don't have to use WLAN Optimizer to fix the ping spikes on the Intel cards.

The problem with VGA still persists, unfortunately.
The drivers don't install: "unsupported hardware" and blah-blah.
The only way I get the installed is by manually adding the DEV id of my VGA card to the INF files.
However, there are 2 issues:
- G-SYNC menu not present in the Control Panel.
- Hibernation works glitchy every time.
I have no idea what the hell wrong with the NVidia people, as "Microsoft Windows® 7, 64-bit versions" and "NVIDIA Notebook GPUs: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080" are both officially supported and listed in the release notes!:

(page 27 and 29)
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/419.67/419.67-win10-win8-win7-release-notes.pdf
(pages 26 and 28)
What a shame!
Has anyone managed to get the VGA drivers installed and working normally/properly?
(or at least to modify them in the way that they don't have these 2 issues) (NVidia, shame!)Last edited: Jul 11, 2019 -

The mobile world is usually a little different ad it's a bit more complex.

Please, check the release notes again,
"Supported Operating Systems"
"Microsoft Windows® 7, 64-bit versions"
"Supported NVIDIA Notebook GPUs"
"NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080"
It is all officially supported and must just work, without any driver mods and issues!
But none of 4XX.XX does.

Why should be there something to do with manufacturer?
1.
This is already my third Clevo, and I've been always installing original latest available drivers from HW component makers (NVidia, Intel, Realtek, etc), and not the outdated versions provided by the laptop manufacturer. (With the exception of 1-2 specific drivers, like Airplane mode or Clevo Center).
And everything has been always fine.
This experience makes me almost 100% certain that laptop manufacturer doesn't have something to do with the NVidia stuff and the problem with the original NVidia drivers from NVidia.
2.
Moreover, in the INF files in the original NVidia drivers for Win10, the HW ID of my VGA card is present in many the sections, meanwhile in the INF files in the original NVidia drivers for Win7, the ID is just missing in all files!
This is one more point that it's not something to do with manufacturer, but with NVidia.
As this means that the drivers were indeed meant for my card and must install and work smoothly (since it is the presence of the HW ID that the setup checks before installing).
But nvidia configured the Win7 drivers in the way that makes the installation on Win7 just impossible without modifying INFs (adding strings with the ID manually).
(even though they claim all is officially supported)
PS:
3.
Another way to ensure that it's NVidia's crap and not the manufacturer, would be to install a test copy of Windows 10, download original drivers by NVidia for Win10, and see them installing and working smoothly, even though they are not from the laptop manufacturer.
That would be another proof of the first two points.
I don't have opportunity to do this test. But i'm 100% sure that all will install and work great.Last edited: Jul 11, 2019 -

Nothin wrong w/ Windows 10 LTSC and some tweaks, don't let the hype/overexaggerated issues mislead you.

And here is one more prove I just got today:
Today I've downloaded and modified the recent drivers, 436.48-desktop-win7-64bit, and updated my Clevo from versions 425/430.39 to this one.
And what do you think! One of the 2 issues, the very glitchy Hibernation, it disappeared! They've fixed something in the driver, so that it works great with RTX2080-Notebook now.
And so far, the only issue is the G-SYNC missing in the NVidia control panel.
(Besides the issue of lying NVidia and impossibility to install the driver without modifying it)Last edited: Oct 2, 2019
