Clevo P751ZM doesn't want to power-up unless BIOS battery isn't pulled out and inserted again.

I have P751ZM with strange problem. The problem appeared after its 970M dies. I replaced it with 870M from MSI GT70 - I can turn on laptop, log in to Windows, GPU is even recognised by the BIOS. But everytime after I turn it off, I can't turn it on by simply pushing power button. I need to disconnect BIOS battery and connect it again, (but I don't need to reconnect main battery). After that, laptop turns on immediately after PSU cable is connected (even without touching the power button).
I changed BIOS and both EC and EC2 to original ones (previously laptop had Prema Mod v2), but this doesn't change anything.

Can it be a hardware failure?

Might be a problem with the power button circuit board, or its cable that bridges it to the main board. So the GTX 870M from the MSI works fine?

Yes, it can be a cause of this weird behavior.

I will mod the driver tomorrow, but if 765M and 880M from Dell worked fine (but unfortunately K5000M didn't) I didn't expect any problems with MSI 870M.

What about the vbios? Have you tried swapping that out?

That's surprising that the Dell cards worked at all. It's still worth checking out the vBIOS to rule out the card.

It's hit and miss as with most MXM, some do work.

880M in my friend's laptop works nearly two years without any problems...
Other question - where I can find Clevo vBIOS for 870M 3GB?

Techpowerup might have one or look via Google. If that fails ask around here.

As expected, GPU works fine: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/12928516
So, I have to prepare for battle with soldering iron as a sword and schematics as a shield. I have some good beer in the fridge, so I'm ready to siege this stubborn issue!

Did you try a different vbios first?

No, I don't think that this is a vBIOS related problem, because with Dell GTX 765M problem looks the same.
