    Hello,
In January 2019 my laptop Clevo P770ZM that i bought at www.xmg.gg in 2015 suddenly died while playing.

When i tried to start the laptop there were some kind of click noise and nothing happened, so i tried differents thing and noticed that without the Gpu connected ( a gtx 970m) the laptop was able to start but stayed on black screen if i'm correct it's because on those models the intel graphic chipset is not usable.

Recently I bought a new Gpu to replace the broken one, I got a 980m on ebay for 300 box. After installing it i thought that every thing was working well but 30 seconds after the start of the computer a beep + 3 led start showing and fans start turning full strength telling me that my computer is overheating but that's not the realy the case i think.

Both the gpu and cpu got new thermal paste and I can put my hand on the heatsink it ain't that hot. I don't know how can I fix this issue here's a picture of my bios for more information.

The system is not getting a proper signal from the gpu likely due to a vbios issue so is shutting down with an EC panic.

Wipe down the mxm connector with rubbing alcohol. Use a low lint cloth (most shirts are fine) or a toothbrush.

Do you have a link to the listing you bought the video card from?

Item no longer being sold, can you take a screenshot from your cached page of the item details?

Don't even know if the probleme don't come from my MOBO because I started the computer without the GPU only my CPU RAM and a Disk in it and got the same issue of overheating with my black screen and the heatsink not even that hot.

The problem you have is the system is having issues reading the GPU thermal sensor. When you remove the GPU, it's really going to have a hard time reading the thermal sensor.

So i’ve Managed to install windows the computer is able to boot it right.
I checked my temps with hwmonitor and gpu z and my temps are quite low cpu got to 60° C Max on use and gpu didn’t even pass 40°.
But still got the issue of overheating, I’ve read on other post with similar problem that I have to update gpu vbios, so I’ll try to do that.

The system can read the thermal sensor even if the card is completely missing a vbios chip. Don't waste your time. Just remove, clean, and reseat the card.

I've clean the the card but no change i tried the software RLECViewer but as you can see it seems it can't get the Gpu temps but i got it on HWMonitor.

When you say it's now overheating, what temp is it getting to?

It’s not overheating the laptop is shutting himself with the previous temps I sent in the screenshot of hwmonitor. I’ve might just miss write because my English is quite poor.
I can put my barehand on the heat sink of both gpu and cpu and it ain’t that hot.
I think it’s as you said my system isn’t able to read the gpu temps properly.

I’ll seek an other 970m or 980m and hope it’s the gpu that was faulty and not my mobo.

Software will report the GPU temp reported by the GPU driver. There is a separate GPU temp read done by the embedded controller (EC) over the SM Bus, which is physically an entirely different interface. This is what's important because the EC is what sets the fan speed and controls thermal shutdown functionality.

This, the reading you see in windows is irrelevant.
