Hello fellow Clevoians,
Im having issues with the flexikey exe which comes with the Control Center of Clevo
it is permanently using 2-3% of CPU , which causes of course battery drain and constant fan spin ups and downs.
As soon as i terminate the task the problem is gone but of course the control center is then shutdown too.
The clevo driver page is a horrible mess and only produces XML errors on the download links.
This laptop is brand new and so is the windows 8 pro + upgrade windows 10 installation.

Have you talked to your reseller about getting a set of windows 10 drivers?

The model specific avail. clevo Driver/App set (networking specifically) is Windows 10 only in the first place (which is ridicolous cuz most people do upgrades from 7/8 to 10), and the reseller only links to the Clevo download pages which are permanently bugged out as of late ..cant access the downloads due to XML errors. Also there seem to be no BIOSes available at all.

The Laptops are imported by MIFCOM germany . Their site contains a "support" link ..which is a joke ...it leads to the same site u can find at clevo. They dont even bother to link you to your correct model. Also those dumba... managed to bork the Intel Wlan card in my build ...probably didnt connect the antennas. Paid 2400€ for this ...they refused to hotswap the machine and force me to send it back in...1 week after i bought it. I will do that some day from now ..atm im using LAN ...i will remove all my drives (which i bought seperately) before sending it in ...so im a bit reluctant atm to go forward with that annoying RMA.Last edited: Feb 18, 2016 -
I bought from Eurocom to Austria and while they're support hasn't been stellar, at least I don't feel like I've been ripped off. Are your support issues more with Clevo or your reseller? Clevo themselves don't particularly cater to individuals. I've just had to send my laptop in for an RMA, it's gone to Germany for that so don't feel that any issue and you'll be shipping it off to Canada if you do explore Eurocom.
If you feel comfortable perhaps it's worth taking a look to check if the antennae are connected to the wifi card? Provided that's the only issue with your wireless it could be a very easy fix. -
sadly accessing the antenna connector would force me to go much further than just opening the large service bay...as far as i was able to see when i did that...seems i would have to disassemble quite a bit and that would certainly void my warranty...also exceeds my self confidence with laptop servicing.
But concerning the topic of my post...noone has seen this behaviour ????

It seems that Cleve continues to disappoint in all terms of support concerning BIOS and Control Center Updates.
Concerning my WIFI problem after over 1 year of owning this machine i found a fix to at least get enough signal strength to my WIFI (Bluetooth still only works at 1-2 meters maximum distance)
A fix that has been SOFTWARE and has been present in the hotkey driver folder from the beginning completely undocumented, not on google , not being known by MIFCOM support or it seems ANYONE. The 771DM seems to be one of the worst sold machines because its hard
to find anyone using it at all. Obsidian sold this model as well but doesnt even support it in its tool.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Hotkey
contains MOBILEBROADBANDFIX.EXE (which im pretty sure is a microcode flash or something similar low level)
i tried that and it instantly made my WIFI usable to at least serve properly in small apartment.
Prior to using it i had a signal reception on the machine that only was able to connect up to a distance of 0.50 meters to the router. Now its several meters at nearly full strength.
I still think the antenna is either broken , has a wire issue or whatever.
I did not send the machine in for service...i just cant stand the thought of having it been shipped around multiple times maybe waiting weeks for it to return still broken.
The thermals on this laptop are pretty bad, the keyboard is pretty bad as well, the fan control is horrible, doesnt matter if u use XTU and custom settings. Idle Temps at Maximum Power Saving around the low-mid 50s Celsius on a Skylake M architecture with audible fans and the cpu only clocking around 1.4 ghz? Are u effin kidding me? Even my old ivy bridge laptop that also has an ACTIVE Igpu (and not a completely disabled one like the clevo - which they failed to disclose in the product description) had better thermal management, silent operation under
internet usage and youtube playback. As im writing this article my cpu load is around 1% and the fans are fricking ramping up for no reason...and i closely monitor my system load, nothing unusual happening here. Room temps are at a cosy 21 Celsius.
The Keyboard backlight RGB control is outright abysmal too and buggy.
I also found the culprit for the 2-3% constant cpu load. I changed a RGB setting to a custom setting (just monocolor yellow for all keys for instance) that caused the background task to continously HOG the cpu until i hit RESTORE DEFAULTS. Instantly the cpu usage dropped to
0%.
I cant even count how many times i have removed and reinstalled control center etc. The Software is GARBAGE and having no BIOS updates to adress the gaping security holes in INTELS IME Architecture that is bordering to criminal neglect of the customer, besides being
a ****ty barebone old school basic bios menu in the first place which offers nothing but
the fundamental settings.
I can thank the gods that the Windows 10 Creators update didnt break anything ..because
if that happens and the manufacturer doesnt support its products specific drivers and applications (such as hotkey, control center ) ...well you know what that means. And as we all know windows 10s updates tend to be pretty dodgy every time its like a lottery.Last edited: May 7, 2017
