So as I eagerly await the arrival of my Xotic order I've been buying things to slap in this machine. And it got me thinking, since my job requires me to run quite a few virtual machines why not co-opt my beast of a laptop and bring my desktop home again! The goal would be to be able to use a Razer Core with my Quadro M4000 and be able to pass through the thunderbolt PCIE interface to a Qemu instance. One of the many and possibly the only issue without a workaround is the fact that while the CPU and Chipset by default support VT-D it's up to the motherboard manufacturer to have it enabled. If someone would be so kind as to send a screenshot of all your virtualization bios options or even of the VT-D option if it exists, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

If they don't show up as user tunable in the BIOS, I wouldn't buy the laptop.

You can run an app to check out what the settings are in the BIOS, and I guess if the settings are all enabled, how I normally run, then that might be ok if you really want the laptop.

But, there are times you want to adjust the settings based on what you are running, so for me I would want control over them.

I have returned a laptop once already for not having the options in the BIOS, Acer later added the options, about 6-8 months later...

I think it's on by default in most of the newer ones, maybe meaker can weigh in on this one and say for sure.

Pretty sure this is enabled with @Prema BIOS. How on earth some of these machines release without such a critical tool is beyond me.

From what I can see there's just an option for enable or disable nothing else

That's right, in the Advanced Chipset Control menu. On or off is really all anyone needs.

That's all you need for VT-D.

I thought that these newer Clevo laptops were shipping with less locked-down stock BIOSes, I'm not sure.

Depends on the resellers. A Prema Partner's BIOS will look a lot different from say something like a Sager.

True, but I was talking just about pure stock Clevo BIOSes.

Understood. I just re-scanned the HTWingnut P870DM3 review thread. Nothing is there. But assuming HIDeveolution says once the Prema made BIOS is ready, they'll ship it out, my guess is the BIOS is similar to what is found in the plain ole P870DM.

Perhaps there is a kind user who has the P870DM3 (at the time of this posting) can snap some pix of the BIOS screens as I couldn't find any here or during a quick search at T|I.
