    Hi,
I am about to buy a Clevo 775TM1, after I regret selling my lil bro 751TM1.

My question is the following as I am confused what I have found on the net/forum.

The machine what I am bargaining on has ChiMei 120hz FHD panel. If i am correct I can replace to AUO B173HAN03.1 144hz panel.

    My questions are
    1) based on eurocom upgrade list it is compatible 144hz screen
    2) do I need also new cable? if yes what type and from where I can buy?
    3) will it be gsync compatbile? Eurocom upgrade list says no, pcspecialist purchase page says yes
    4) is it worth it? (i have the feeling without gsync it seems pointless...)

ps: +1 question: AUO B173HAN04.0 144hz will work? gsync?

thanks for the help in advance!

So long as both panels are the same pin count then it can be a direct swap.

Did you order a G-sync model to begin with? If not then you can't add it later really.

120Hz to 144Hz in itself is mostly pointless for most people, it comes more down to what the colours/viewing angles/response is like and all that traditional monitor goodness.

Thx for your kind reply. It was ordered with the ChiMei 120hz FHD screen and it was purchased as non gsync. However the 1080 is gsync card I guess, so it could be non gsync even the card and panel are gsnyc? Sorry about my questions, I am always confused with gsync stuff. As 120/144 I do not really care, however gsync seems good...

At higher refresh rates I find myself not noticing a lack of G-Sync as much. You might be able to get away without having a problem.

The card must be from an internal G-sync system for G-sync to be possible.

Thx, however I have no clue if this system is "internal g-sync system".

I have decided to buy the AUO ....3.1, the worst that can happen, that I will have a 144hz IPS panel instead of the ChiMei. However I have to say, that the ChiMei - even though it is TN - has pretty OK colors and contrast.
Thx, I will update you what the outcome will be...

Is there a way to identify G-Sync GPUs from the non-gsync ones? like codename/deviceID/vbios version?

I don't know to be honest, I don't think so of those. Usually you just go by the source of it.

Why do they make it so complex :(

Any idea how eurocom's g-sync upgrade process work? http://www.eurocom.com/ec/upgrade(2,431,0)SkyX4C

The screen should work fine, it's just G-sync and I'd rather have the refresh rate personally.

I share your view, that is why I have bought the IPS 144hz screen. For 90EUR it is ok and reasonably to have good colors and 144hz refresh rate. If gsync works it is just an extra :D

https://imgur.com/a/i0CFEiN I guess they disable it in bios by default and then provide an update when you purchase g-sync.

They sell it via a license fee to the OEM to have the right card/bios codes.

    Hi,
    I forgot the feedback.
Meaker@Sager was right, there is no g-sync option in nvidia menu. Otherwise works perfectly, after the ChiMei 120hz TN panel it is not a huge improvement, however the colors even better, and I have the feeling it is a little bit smoother (faster?). However I could not really test it, as the copper IHS what I have ordered from poland is bad again (50% are just not reaching properly the chip of the cpu), after I replace the original IHS I will test it again.

Can I have the gsync bios? I think the 1080 is capable, so if it is only bios thingy, it might be solved... :)

Thanks for the update. We are on the same page here, I have a p750tm1 non g-sync version as this is the only model offered by my local reseller(azom systems). After seeing the results here I guess we'll never have g-sync with our systems. :(

While it's nice to have, even without it a 144hz panel is going to give a really good gaming experience.

Wouldn’t flashing a G-Sync vBIOS to a non G-Sync card result in a nice brick?

    So basically same question...

    I have a GSync P775TM with B173HAN03.1 6bit 144 hz panel.
Would upgrading to B173HAN04.0 disable GSync ?
Refresh rate is tbe same, however the later is a true 8 bit panel with half the gray to gray response time.
Or the P775TM bios only have the 3.1 white listed for GSync and thus GSync option would be hidden for the new panel ?

I guess all g-sync compatible displays are getting g-sync with the latest nvidia drivers. I got my laptop, P750TM1 non g-sync version but with a g-sync compatible display(LG LP156WF6-SPB1). There was no gsync option in nvidia control panel till yesterday but now after updating the drivers it shows that my display is gsync compatible( https://imgur.com/a/3fHfV8D )

As I have said zillions of time, for me this whole g-sync topic is a mystery :) From pure logic I would say it works, otherwise I am totally unsure... I have never managed to change any screen without loosing gsync :(

Yes I have... it seems if a machine is assembled without gsync it wont have. However I have not tried to put gsync vbios in my 1080, so there is still a slight chance, however the funny thing that I never switch gsync on :) I just wanted to fix prior selling my laptop, as many ppl are looking for it. I prefer 200fps and no-gync at all.

Weird, mine was assembled without gsync(and I had no gsync till yesterday) but with the latest drivers(419.35) my display is marked as gsync-capable( https://imgur.com/a/3fHfV8D) and gsync works now.

Maybe but a reason for GSync not working for you could be that your VGA is missing the GSync license.

Drevan said in hungarian that gsync is pretty neat...
I said, in multiplayer gaming it was not, and I did not play single...

That's a tough call really as g-sync smooths things out but if you are good enough to be competitive you are aiming at FPS beyond refresh rate anyway.

It's kind of like saying your winter tyres are bad for racing, you would not put them on the track anyway.

For single player games its good, however in competitve games I feel that the aim is lagging due to gsync. I prefer 200FPS non gsync for multiplayer. However it is good to have as you can swtich it off anytime :)
