Hello there folks, I hope someone can help me with a problem that I have with the clevo p775tm1-g, it has a 8700k, a gtx 1080 8gb, 16 gb of corsair memory and I put myself a Samsung evo 512 m2.
First thing first, a little history of the laptop. I got the laptop as it was, with the problem from an acquaintance with 300 euro.. It was a friendship price and he hemself got it from someone else as a gift.. He didn't want to bother with it, he's more into consoles.. So I don't know anzthing about it, if it was overclocked or not. The manufacturer is Pc Specialist.
Now to the problem. The acquaintance told me about the artefacts and that he did a new windows installation and that they are still there
They come random, sometimes when u browse the Web, or watch YouTube or close a window..
They appear on the screen then the pc freezes the the screen goes black and after a while, 2 3 seconds, it comes back again in desktop.. But sometimes it resets as well.
So I installed the ssd. Got a new Windows Pro, installed all the drivers.. Newest Nvidia and for clevo I used the obsidian tool, but the artefacts are still coming.
I tried only a online gpu benchmark and the temp of the gpu was 72 Celsius. I will try other benchmarks as well.
I suspect myself that the gpu is the culprit, that's why I got the kryonaut paste and I will put a neu one on the cpu and the gpu.. I want also want to change the VRam pads, but which shall I buy.. I don't know the dimensions.
Another thing I will try to use msi afterburner for underclocking the gpu. Shall I do that and what parameters shall I try?
Can it be that maybe the corsair ram is faulty, or the cpu?
What do u think I can try and salvage the thing.
The bios on it is 1.07.25TPCS3, EC 1.07.16
, V bios 86.04.80.00.23 build date 09.11.17
Shall I update the bios or put another one??
I made a movie with the artefacts that I'll attach here.
Any help is welcome, it's a nice laptop and for that money a repair is worth.

Sorry for what happened to your laptop, you have to prepare yourself for replacing your GPU, or consider it upgrade to 20xxs or so. Try heat fix for GPU's, you can find many videos on YouTube. If the laptop still in warranty you can do RMA.
Good luck. -

Usually bad VRM pads means a shutdown, I think a new GPU is in order.

Hi guys,
thanks for your answer, but i got some updates.
I didnt have much time so i just tried yesterday in MSI Afterburner to lower the clocks. i went -300 on the Gpu clock, and -250 on the memory one and after that the Laptop is stabile, no more error or artefacts, i tried to stress the machine and installed battlefield V, put evryhing on Ultra with DX12 and played a round of multiplayer without any problems.
With an ambiant room temperature of 21 celsius and with an Thermaltake Coolpad under the laptop I had in full load a CPU temp of around 77 and the GPU was also in the 70 ish but the fans were really loud.
After about 30 min of playing i tried 3 times that userbenchmark too and all 3 loops went aswell without any problem.
So what to you think, its still the GPU or maybe the power supply is not enough or the charger has a problem?
What about the bios. Should I update it?
Should I try a repaste of the GPU and CPU?
And in another note, the laptop is G-Sync ready, it has the FD IPS 144 Hz screen, but for some reason i dont have any G-Sync option in Nvidia Control Panel. Do i need to do something in BIOS to activate it?
Thx again for your helpLast edited: Oct 2, 2020 -

Undercooking does remove stress from the GPU and VRM. So I would still think gpu.
