So just got your Clevo P870DM and are at a loss why isn't it running at the advertised 4.2 GHz? Are you experiencing throttling due to high temps while gaming or doing CPU intensive tasks? Then this guide is for j00

If you ever wanna format your laptop and perform a clean Windows 10 installation, see:

NBR Windows 10 Clean Installation Guide

PS: If you want to install Windows 10 in RAID mode, then copy the RAID driver from the below drivers link onto the Windows 10 USB Flash disk, when you are at the partition selection wizard in Windows 10, you will notice that your NVMe SSDs are not showing, simply click LOAD DRIVER, then point it to the RAID Driver folder that you have placed on your USB Flash disk and within a few moments after the RAID driver has been loaded, the NVMe drive will show up.

It is imperative that you only have 1 drive installed when installing Windows otherwise the Windows Setup has a nasty habit of placing the boot files on the 2nd drive if it finds one which will cause headaches in the future when creating image backups of your OS and slower boot performance if you had an HDD(s) in the 2.5" bays.

For those of you who's system has the Prema BIOS, here is a quick walk through of the most important options, what they do, and how to get a 4.2 GHz overclock on all cores + lower the temps down as the default voltage is way too high which causes a lot of overheating / thermal throttling:

    Prema BIOS Installation Guide:

Prema BIOS Walkthrough / 4.2 GHz on all cores settings

Here are the safe/stable settings for a 4.2GHz overclock on all 4 cores with cache ratio set to 42, no throttling, max temps of 80-85C while gaming using stock IC Diamond / no CPU delid

System stability done using AID64 and monitoring using HWMonitor

Tested on my previous Eurocom Sky X9 and now the current Sky X9, so it was perfectly safe on 2 systems

    Settings suggested by @Mr. Fox

If you get any hardlocks/freezing even though the temps are not very high, just increase the offset voltage for CPU Core/Cache Ratio from -115 mV to - 100mV

Warning, if for any reason the above settings were not 100% stable for you, then try decreasing the undervolt by +10mV then test again. They were stable on 2 systems that I owned but no CPU is the same so you might have to tweak a little bit. This will give you a good starting point and understanding of the settings though.

For those without the Prema BIOS, here are the XTU settings that I helped a fellow forum member setup, the only thing you wanna change in the below settings is to set all multipliers to x42, he initially wanted to play safe and thus chose a 42,41,41,41 multiplier:

    Hi, quick question.

I have the 4.2/4.2/4.2/4.2 overclock running and it's fast, stable and cool.

So, is there a way to get XTU to run with that overclock at Windows Startup? Can I just use the Task Scheduler for that?

Since I can't adjust the BIOS itself (it's stock, non-Prema BIOS), I am looking for a way to just have XTU run at startup.

---Specifically, I want XTU to boot at startup, with the overclock running and minimized to the system tray automatically. This way I dont' have to look at the main XTU program window every time I boot Windows, but still have it running down in the system tray so I know it's there.

I don't see any default "run at startup" options in the XTU settings, so I'm not sure how I would set it up to run automatically as I described above. Unless Task Scheduler has all those options.

    Thanks.

Even if you don't run XTU at startup, it will apply the overclock settings. There is a system process called Watchdog I believe that handles that. But when I say it runs at boot, it runs after a few seconds of Widows been loaded. The only way to run it at startup really and have faster boot speed from the start is a BIOS overclock.

Oh, ok. I didn't even know that. I thought XTU always had to be running for the overclock settings to be active.

Well, that takes care of that!

    Thanks!

You can verify by running HWiNFO while XTU is not running and see if all cores are running @ 4.2 GHz always by clicking on the sensors icon on the top left, then scroll down a bit to see the CPU cores/Temps

Is there a thread which would explain what every setting in Prema Bios does?

I might need it in text format, if there exists.

You must wait until it becomes available to the public.

And no you cannot buy it from me, I didn't make it so I cannot sell it nor would I ever distribute it. This is not my property.

    I am looking to get P870DM with 980M SLI's.

Since I live in the UK, the 4K screen with G-Sync isn't sold by sellers.

Does anyone know where I can get only the display mentioned above?
Also is 660W necessary? Does the system throttle under the 330W power supply?

660W IS necessary if you want to overclock. For SLI systems, I would never get a system with a 330W Power supply though.

Why don't you get it from HIDevolution with a guaranteed 4.4 GHz stable overclock, high speed RAM and the 4K Screen you want?

    See:

Since you are living in the UK, (I live in Dubai by the way), HIDevolution's global warranty covers shipping both ways for your system or any small components if you need to replace them in the future so it's best for international customers like us.

The thing is, HIDevolution is almost 500 pounds more expensive than other custom sellers with the same configuration!
The price on their US website is good, but if I order to the UK I would have to pay 20% VAT which means that I'll pay around 500 pounds extra than just ordering from some UK sellers. Even if you go to Amazon.co.uk and check out the configurations they are selling, it is still 500 pounds more expensive than others...

HIDevolution does have a better configuration choice, they offer Prema BIOS, 4K with G-Sync screen and higher RAM clocks, but it's not cost-effective to order to the UK...

The BIOS is compatible with all P870DM-Gs, since CEG isn't a prema partner shop you would have to wait for the public release

That was a great idea. I emailed them and they said that I don't need to pay VAT or any import duties if I order to the UK.
It was actually written on their website as well but I haven't seen it.

I will be ordering from HIDevolution most likely :)

You can't clock the 4k displays too far, the controllers can't handle it very much due to the already very high pixel throughput.
