Hi there,
my Phoenix is driving me nuts the last two weeks. It's 2015 model with GTX980. Two internal 500GB Evos. One native 3,5" as System drive and a MSATA in a 3,5" Adapter. Well the rest is pretty much standard Phoenix... 16GB RAM, the 75Hz FullHD display with G-Sync.
When I am talking about lights of the mouse: It's a Roccat Nyth which has Illumination.
So... 2 or 3 weeks ago it started to act strange.
Switched off for the night. Power supply is always connected. Next morning I hit the power button. The status lights next to it do their running light thing when you switch on. Keyboard and display cover lights activate. Mouse lights stay dark. Display is black and nothing happens. Power button is illuminated, of course. If I wait a while I can hear the fans start, so they run.
That's it... Stays like that... Usually the black screen should turn into a dark gray, when it switches the backlights on. Then the manufacturers bootlogo appears and Windows 10 loads. Oh well... and the mouse lights activate. If I had connected a USB harddisk that would be the point when it spins up.
In the past two weeks I had to force switching off with keeping power button pressed. Then another try to switch on. I found out that it finally worked after disconnecting all USB devices.
The last 3 days... It's way harder. Up to 10 minutes without anything connected... Press Power button. Screen stays black nothing happens. Press long. Wait a second. Press to switch on. .......
In my experience problems with booting up and not activating themouse lights is due to problems with USB. And that means the power supply can't provide enough power because it's getting old and worn out. Well for me that means there is a problem with the mainboard or another internal board.
The shop told me their notebook specialist wonders about that failure and wants the laptop to be sent there to check for a hardware failure.
Well... They send the devices to Clevo if there is a hardware failure. Somehow I am not very keen about not having a laptop for the next 4-6 weeks...
Oh just another thing... After the laptop was running once I can cold start it endless and it works. Until it is sitting there for the night. I think then the components are cold enough so it doesn't work.
Someone got a hint what I could try?

Did you trying taking out the CMOS battery (under the keyboard) and the system battery, to do a full CMOS/NVRAM clear?
Once you take both those batteries out and are disconnected from the adapter, press the power button a couple of times, wait for a minute and then put everything back in again.
The first boot should take about 2 mins or so.TBoneSan likes this. -
Not yet. Never removed the keyboard to be honest. Should do it for cleaning...
I did FN+D+Power.
Next step I want to try is removing the SSD tomorrow and putting the HD which came with the notebook in. I always order only the cheapest HD and put my own stuff in so I do not have to send my data to the manufacturer if something happens.
Short: Since I got the problem only when it's unused over night, I will remove the battery tomorrow morning. Thx for the tip. Haven't thought about the BIOS battery yet. -
As of now it looks like there has to be a crack somewhere which closes when the chip is getting warm...
Dealer says up to 6 weeks. I send it to them. They check it. They send it to Clevo.... I could just bite my frickn table. I got absolutely no spare machine in the meantime!
Should have bought it at Schenker back then and not in the shop I ordered... But it was almost christmas and I was in a hurry... *njargh* -

It could be a bad solder joint yes, it's quite common with temperature related issues.
