    Hi,

As per title, is this possible?

I have the GTX980 desktop equivalent.

    Thanks in advance.

@Sherlock0486 You can't. None of the older upgradeable Clevo laptops can upgrade to Pascal 1070/1080

Clevo redesigned the whole graphics card. All owners of previous Clevo laptops is screwed!!

Yes i knew that but I thought the best gpu that fits in a p750 was 980m not 980 desktop

It's not going to be an easy swap at the very least.

You should at least be able to upgrade to a 1060 which is still a decent step up. From the pics I've seen the 1060 MXM still sticks to the original standard without extra power requirements.

The great irony, is many users here have been BEGGING Clevo to go all out power in their laptops (ie lets all break MXM standard as you really can't put much more than 130W through the connector alone). More power, stick desktop GPUs in there, YEH!

Clevo and Nvidia do exactly that and................still complaints, now because old machines can't handle it
Seriously, how did anybody here NOT see that one coming?! You can't take a GPU, stick it in a laptop and magically use 60% less power while retaining the performance.

Nothing short of a miracle will please some people. I picked myself up a P650RP-G (work machine) and it's a great workhorse.

The Clevo 1060 is the same form factor as the other two cards. Only the MSI 1060 is standard.

People aren't complaining about the power connector, they're complaining about the power connector being different than the previous power connector used for the 980 cards, and that the cards almost seem like they're intentionally designed to be just too long to fit in older systems. The Clevo cards are like 9mm too long to fit in the P870DM, and they're not packed very densely by any means.

Without the service manual I can't be sure (unfortunately Palkeo's mirror has broken files) but it looks like the extra power delivery is now more than an after-thought this time around. It wouldn't surprise me if it's designed to pull a larger majority of the power through the external power rather than the MXM connector.

The new power connector was not a necessity. It was a choice. The old one has easily pushed the cards to over 300W+.

And the older 180w graphics card design fit the two MMX slots in 870DM1. Make better heatsink than bro @Mr. Fox used and we could upgraded for Sli in the older P870 with no problems.

As far as I know, you can put 190-200W through them just fine? I'm pretty sure I've seen people test exactly this and it worked fine. THAT is why people are so mad about this.

For those who don't know, Eurocom now offers a (hefty price) 1070 drop in replacement for P870DM-G. Check it out.

Probably cheaper to go to @woodzstack for the same GPU! Eurocom prices are a total rip off!

Which even Prema doesn't have available yet so good luck with that.. Meaker has done some manual trickery by shorting resistors or something which gives a lot more performance but that's very dangerous..
