As per title. Had this machine for 5+ months now and very satisfied with it. Only problem I have now is keeping the fans dust-free.

There are three screws which are easily removable around the top, but the others are deep within and very difficult to remove because they are embedded inside mini-holes so I can't pull them out manually with my fingers. Is it really necessary to loosen them all before the back cover can be removed for simple maintenance?

    Yep there's lots of them.

Magnetic screwdriver or pickup. You need a screwdriver with about an inch of tip clearance

Or unscrew them, turn the laptop over and let them fall out onto sticky tape to save you spending the next ten minutes down on your knees swearing trying to find them.

The whole cover should come off all at once if you pull up (as it's upside down) from the front edge; clipping it back on, start at the back near the power jack

Its pretty robust, I've had mine on and off countless times and haven't broken a single clip or tab. Unlike other laptops I've worked on where you don't unclip clips and tabs, you rip them off

    Thanks for the reply.

All of the screws visible including the deep-lying ones requiring tip clearance... I'm doing it over a table with a colourful tablecloth so I'll probably count everything before unscrewing to make sure I don't leave any behind.

I'm not doing any hardware replacements, just a simple cleaning of the vents and of the dust-covered fans. Hopefully I don't make a mess of this relatively simple operation.

You can also blow out the dust through the vents using Compressed Air for occasional maintenance. No need to open the laptop.

Just completed it. A lot less than I thought based on the look of the vents but undoing all of the black screws seems to have done it in the end.

I tried blowing dust through the vents occasionally but I find that just sends the dust back where it came from and doesn't solve the problem. Although this model makes it difficult to open up and do maintenance, it can be done with a bit of care.

Get a magnetic screwdriver... I had a similar issue with my P771ZM and since getting one, it's been really straightforward!
