Hi recently I've bought the Clevo P970ED barebone with i7 8750h and RTX2060.
A very powerful gaming machine but I also like the convience of a silent, efficient working machine with decent batterylife.
My previous machine was a P955ED with i7 8750h and GTX1060.
On this laptop I configured a powersaver profile with Throttlestop and it was very efficient with power draw.
It never exceeded 6-8 Watt when browsing/youtubing and when idle it only consumed 0.8-1.5 Watt.
Batterylife was about 5-6 hours.
On my new laptop I want to setup the same profile but somehow I don't get the same results with the same settings in throttlestop.
The computer idles between 2-3 watt and when I start a YouTube video the power rises to 15-20 Watt and stayes there for a while.
Batterylife is only 3-4 hours.
Both laptops are running a clean installed Windows 10 Pro 1903.
When idle the C7 states on the P970 are constantly jumping below 95% while on the P955 they are constantly >95%.
I've checked taskmanager which reports only 1-2% cpu usage similar with the P955.
So I'm a bit on a dead end now fixing this I hope someone on this forum can help?

No G-Sync and the 2060 has optimus.
When I open Nvidia console the power rises to 15W for a while.
On the P955 these eratic power peaks don't occur. -
I feel the latest Intel DCH driver and nvidia driver w/o telemetry and bloatware should consume <10W in optimus mode. -

The latest models are optimus only, but worth checking the nvidia card is not being set as above.

I've followed the entire throttlestop guide last evening.
C0 is >5% all the time and my cpu package is idling in C2 and C3. -

When you say it's working fine, just to be sure how did you come to that conclusion?

There was none so thats why I think it's fine.
I did some more research and followed this guide:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...trol-of-the-i7-8750h-advanced-version.823065/
It improves the C0, C3, C4 and C7 states but their values are still jumping around when idle and nothing is running in the background.
In the Windows advanced power plan settings I also noticed Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework is running.
It has 2 settings (45W and 35W) could this interfere with throttlestop?
Edit1: Removed DPTF the issue persistLast edited: Jun 2, 2019 -

What kind of performance do other P970 owners get? -

It's very confusing the P955 didn't need any further tweaking to run efficiënt.
The only difference on software level I've found with the P955 is Intel DPTF.Vasudev likes this.
