How long would it take for a Clevo Reseller (i.e. XoticPC/Powernotbooks) to construct a laptop after receiving the chassis from Clevo. I'm planning on getting the m860tu for college but i need it by mid August at the latest.

Also, how many chassis will Clevo make before release? Do they limit how many are released to consumers like video game consoles?

I think mid August is feasible.

Xotic and PNB do not build the laptops at their site. They send the order over to Sager and it is build there and sent out from their to my knowledge.

Usually in about a week after the chassis arrives.

Will there be a lot out at first or will there be delays for parts?

This will boil down to order volume and initial supplies from Clevo to Sager. Provided Sager does not run out of specific parts, average shipping time may be as low as 4 business days.

Keep in mind that an initial high volume of orders could add a few days to this build time. Even in the epic slam seen by their production staff at the launch of the 8800M GTX, however, we only saw build times crest 10 business days when they ran out of screens and had to wait on a new shipment, and build times were generally kept to 7 business days or less even at peak demand.

    Edited to add:
As for a lot or a little at first: Sager tries to have enough to meet demand at every launch, but that doesn't always happen. If they should run out of a particular part, however, we resellers will know very fast.

I thought Clevo sent Xotic or other resellers the laptop base and then Xotic added the parts? Or does Xotic send the order over to Sager and then they mail you your laptop?

I think Eleison said it very well. :) Turnaround is usually in 3-7 business days from payment. :) Sager does a very good job with forecasting and ETA's with new models and making sure they have everything they need in to get finished units out the door.

Xotic would send the order over to sager and then the laptop is built and mailed to you from the sager building site.

Xotic calls Sager and gives them the order.
