Hi all. Going to buy a new laptop very soon. Looking strongly at a Sager. For those of you that have them, how would you rate the touchpad? I hate integrated mouse buttons which is one of the reasons a Sager appeals to me. Do the buttons have good travel? Are they noisy?

Other laptop I might get is the MSI GE62 as it looks like it has separate buttons are well.

For gaming I use a separate mouse, but for general office work I really like separate buttons.

    I appreciate any feedback.

I can only speak about the two models I've owned (only 1 is current)

np8150/P150HM - Rubberized keypad was meh, not terrible but it was tacky. Over time the "rubberized" part wore off so I've got a spot in the middle of the trackpad that's just slick plastic. The actual buttons worked ok, decent travel and no issues. Wouldn't recommend this laptop if you used the trackpad a lot

np8652/P650SG - Just had a few hours to try this before I had to ship it back to get some missing parts put in, haven't got it back yet. The trackpad felt nice, huge in size compared to my last one and NOT rubberized, so it was slick and decent. The buttons seemed to have a lot more travel (enough that I distinctly remember going "whoa" because they were a lot more tactile that my last ones).

    By comparison:
Thinkpad x220- still the best keyboard/touchpad/nub I've ever used on a laptop. Nothing so far I've ever used has beat this.

If by integrated mouse buttons you mean no buttons separate from the touchpad, then I feel you on that sentiment. They're not for everyone.

The tactile response is good. They're not very loud, but this can vary from one model to the next, as can the overall feel and response of them. Do you have a particular model(s) in mind?

    Thanks for your thoughts Epsilon748.

As far as models I am considering I think I would probably the Sager NP6659 or the NP7155. The 950m or 960m as sufficient for my needs as I am a casual gamer and the heat and noise would be less.

I'd just suggest checking the relevant owner's forums here then and searching the thread for "trackpad". That should give you a place to start :)
