IS this laptop worth $600? this would be for my son who goes some gaming, nothing that crazy just plays WoW occasionally and some Other RPG & FPS. i know i can upgrade this, but to what?

    Clevo M570RU,

    Dual Core T7500 Processor 2.2GHz
    100G Hard Drive
    17-inch WUXGA (1680 x 1050) glossy display Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT with 512MB
    2 GB system Memory
DVD Multi Recorder CD ReWritable DVD/RW
    Wifi
    Built in Camera (Webcam)
    S-Video output
    DVI output
    Fingerprint Reader
    4 USB Ports
    Integrated Bluetooth

edit: in response to the answers left i have these questions:
can i over clock the T7500 using Setfsb?, and i read that the Chipset will accomodate 8gb of ram has anyone tried this yet?

also i have a guy who has both the 8800mgtx & 9800mgtx, is the differance that much better to pay an extra $200?

    thanks

    thanks

Yep, I would say it's worth it, you would want to throw another 2gb's of ram in there though 4gb's is perfect, and maybe a larger capacity 7,200 RPM hard drive, also the 8700M GT is kind of weak, you could upgrade it to an 8800M GTX and with a bios update maybe the 9800M GTX, but they would be expensive. The 8700M GT will handle WoW and some average RPG's, it would probably struggle with Crysis on medium though. Other than that for 600, I'd say it's a deal, especially for what it's going to be used for, and it's a Clevo, so it's got that Clevo quality.

It doesn't support quads, most powerful CPU you can put in there is the X9000 extreme dual core, so you could upgrade the ram, cpu, gpu, and hard drive, the gpu would be really expensive though, you might find a deal on an 8800M GTX or 9800M GTX for around 250, 300 used if you're lucky, but to buy a new one from a reseller, you're looking at 500+ IF they even have any left in stock.

    X9000 CPU.
    9800M GTX video card
    4 Gb ram
    500 GB @ 7200 rpm HDD

I think that's pretty much it

Ok, i bought 2 for $950. Can these be overclocked?(cpu) and is it imperitive that i change the Video card out or will the 8700 be ok. i bought one for my Son and one for me to tinker with, so obv mine is going to get the brunt of the abuse. i really only will play poker on this, and possibly WoW, i do have a Sager i bought a month ago that i do encoding & editing on,but i just want that one for that process and use this for my games & stuff...

also iare there any SSD that will work with this?

The cpu can be overclocked using setfsb (PLL ICS9LPR316AGLF) and BIOS multiplier if you have an X9000. The 8800M GTX is literally twice as fast as the 8700, so a darn good upgrade if you can get it.

Any SSD will fit this unit as long as it's SATA (I or II) and 9.5mm - which almost all mainstream ones are.
