I was wondering if anyone has upgraded to Windows 8 on their Clevo W110er and what their experience was like with driver compatibility? I am running Windows 8 on my desktop and have become used to it, so I would like to upgrade my new laptop but want to make sure everything will be fairly compatible before I pay for the upgrade. Any info is appreciated.

they are being sold with windows 8 option now by the resellers so i cant see them doing that if there was problems with drivers.

That's a good point, most Windows 7 drivers I've dealt with have (fairly) seamlessly integrated into Windows 8 anyways. I guess it's time to upgrade for me.

I just upgraded and figured I'd post back results in case anyone else was debating upgrading to Windows 8. The installation went seamlessly and even though the Windows 8 upgrade assistant claimed the USB 3.0 drivers were incompatible Windows 8 found the driver for them instantly after the install. Everything is detected and I have had no immediate issues.

Anyone had problems with Bluetooth? I literally can't get it to work on my system under W8.

I have a quick question I'll add onto this thread...So I was trying to play a game while on battery power and it was obviously using the integrated Intel graphics. How do I force it to use the 650m? If I try to open up the Nvidia control panel I get this error: "You are not currently using a display attached to an Nvidia GPU."

Is there a quick way to swap what GPU is being used? Sometimes I'd like to play using the 650m on battery even if it means I'll only last an hour or so.

you dont as it can damage the card and the battery. the idea of extended battery life and optimus is for general use like brousing and its always recommended to have it plugged in while gaming.

I had tried it multiple times. I just installed W7 drivers, works like a charm XD

To use the Nvidia GPU on battery, use the "High performance" power profile, make sure there are no power saving measures on it whatsoever, and then when you want to open an application, make sure to right click and select the default GPU to use for this application as "Nvidia" as opposed to the "Integrated" one.
