I tried hooking my Clevo up to an external monitor via VGA but the adapter the monitor uses is the Intel 4000 graphics instead of the Nvidia GPU. When I open the properties of the laptop display it also says the adapter being used is the Intel graphics. Are neither monitor utilizing the 650m? I set the general system preference to use the Nvidia GPU, and the monitor will say certain programs are using the dedicated GPU. However, the image on the external monitor is blurry (even set at the native screen resolution of 1600x1200).

Any tips? Is there anyway to get the Nvidia GPU to display via VGA to my external monitor? Or is it even though it says the adapter being used for the monitor is the integrated Intel graphics? Maybe I'm just confused...

Edit: I just noticed when I go to advanced settings (from the resolution screen) it says I only have 32mb of dedicated video memory...

All display outputs are wired to the hd4000 integrated graphics, your gt650 is only used when requests to render 3d data are sent.

That doesn't seem to necessarily be the case. I plugged my laptop in to another monitor also via VGA and the Nvidia control panel listed the VGA output as using the Nvidia 650m GPU. Before, the Nvidia software wasn't displaying that the VGA output was utilizing the GPU.

Interesting...The only thing I changed was I connected to a new monitor.
