So a friend of mine have had his clevo for around a year now. And suddenly yesterday a problem appeared:
When the power button is pressed the fans starts up, and after a second or two they stop and nothing more. Seems like the computer shuts down (During this time, nothing happens on the screen).

    Anybody had similar issues?

Does it make any beeps or noises other than fans?

No, not a single one. Not any sounds from the hard drive either. Just fans starting up (lights on the keyboard goes on, but not the screen), stops, then nothing.

Try removing the battery and using only AC power

its a long shot but you could try a EC reset.

remove mains plug and battery and then press and hold down power button for roughly 20 seconds.
plug in mains without battery and try powering on. then try on battery only.

Tried that too, nothing changed yet again :/
Any thoughts on what piece of hardware could be broken?

It's strange cause it actually starts up a bit, so it should not be connected to battery or AC?

Might need to resort to getting an RMA going. If it was thermals there would be beeps. If it was a drive then you'd get a drive error. In my opinion it'd have to be something power related or BIOS.

Sounds like a bad board. I imagine an RMA will prompt a replacement once tested.

Yeah, i thought about the same. I bought a clevo, and my board fried after a year too.
