So the newest Clevo model is now available in EU

MySN.de just released it and is now selling it, with several pictures included to show the fancy looking machine with the 660M GPU
    - and so is MSI-BG.pt

    Sleek looking and great power.

Click HERE for full laptop detail. A 15" model should be released soon too.

    thanks for posting Jaug.
i wonder if the Independent GPU switch support UMA and Optimus mode will sort out the switching problems that have been reported on here.

yes sadly.. the bad excuse I got was that they didn't want the laptop to be "phatter" .. damn you Clevo, you never do come up with good explanations

btw: If you want to know how the 15" looks like and what specs it has, check RJTech they sell both the 17" and 15" way before it came to EU!!
    - link to the 15 inch and the 17 inch :D enjoy

if you configure it to 3610QM with 8gm of ram and 500gb hd, its pretty much same price as P150em, but with weaker graphics card. same weight too

I guess if you really want a 17 inch screen and chiclet keyboard vs a 15 inch and regular keyboard. 660m and 670m are close in performance though and the 660m is Kepler and should run much cooler and use less power.

Where are you pricing that? That's somewhere that either sells a really expensive W370 or a really cheap P150... building similar systems at rjtech puts them more than 200 dollars apart...

    From XoticPC I get:

    $1059 for the NP6370 / W370ET
    $1169 for the NP9130 / P151EM

    That's with i7-3610QM, 8GB DDR3 (1600), 500GB HDD, 660m/670m. The W370ET is glossy but $30 upgrade to matte.

But in general, 660m > 670m and has 17" screen. Except they put in that damn wimpy 6-cell battery again. Why do they do that?

Seriously? Seriously? The Clevo site says 8-cell so maybe it's a typo? I was hoping with optimus to be able to get more than a couple of hours of endurance on battery... 8-cell vs six cell is 33% more life (all other things equal). That may be a make-or break for me. I need a good solid three hours of plug-free life for the life of the laptop. I'll be using it for a webcam stream at qvga resolution so it's not heavy usage. Perfect for optimus, GPU is off during that time. I guess if I can get the 8-cell elsewhere and keep the six-cell as a backup that would work too...

A similar W170ER is only about $70 cheaper than the W370ET, so now I can't see anybody going for it, considering the (presumably) better shell and the 660M of the W370ET.

I think the better comparison would be the W370ET or $100-150 more for Best Buy's G75VW. If it weren't for tax, the G75VW would be less than $100 more, but even with tax, it's a tough choice IMO.

The difference would be (as I can see) if the W370ET had a different BIOS, which meant a whole lot.. Premaøs BIOS wouldn't be enabled there and a lot of limitations would be present.

But it's quite odd yes.. The W370ET kicks the W170ER in the butt.

The W370ET excels at several points.
    • better GPU
    • better mobo (HM77) supports RAID
    • 3 SO-DIMM for RAM maximum 24GB RAM
    • And a higher voltage battery?

There's something wrong.. just checked on MySN.de website, they state that it comes with a 6-cell battery with a 76.96WH , just like Sager does

Do you want it to make even less sense? Now that page says it's an 8-cell!
Hopefully they finally got someone to flip one over and look at the battery after a few emails asking about it...

Sorry for this delay. It IS a 8-Cell 76.96wh battery.
It has been updated on Sager and many reseller's websites. This is confirmed. :)

Makes me even more excited that I waited for the W370 instead of caving and getting a W150 or W170 earlier. I will need to work unplugged for a few hours frequently. If I can get it to last three hours with optimus I'll be happy.
77 WH just makes that easier, I just have to get the machine to use less than ~26 Watts average to make three hours work. That's doable, I think.

Nice. We'll have to run some numbers if/when the laptop shows up. I've been looking for a good balance between power and portability. I think this is where the balance is for me. Thanks for the reply.

As far as a thorough review/benchmarks go, mine is going to be a franken-build, so it will have a few issues at first. I just ordered the barebones model from RJTech after several emails back and forth with them about this model and others (I've been happy with their support so far, even if they weren't the only barebones vendor in town I still would have bought from them). All I have to stick in it right now is a sandy-bridge i3 and 4 GB of leftover RAM from my brother's laptop upgrade. I do have two SSDs that I intend to put in RAID in the machine so it will have a very interesting performance profile compared to how most users are probably going to configure their machines. It may be a few months before I have the cash to get an i7 to go in the machine - maybe Christmas. I wanted a machine that would last, but I was short on money and had an urgent need for a machine, so I went with a good chassis and used leftovers and loaners for the rest of the parts (for now). I'll go to 16 or 24 GB ram later. I'm interested to see how the third RAM slot effects RAM performance in a dual-channel system. If it slows things down, I'll just leave it empty. 16GB is plenty for me right now. I intend to rig something up to measure the power consumption of the unit in certain situations (I'm an electrical engineer- I like those kinds of things). I have a kill-a-watt, but I want to go between the brick and the laptop. That's the measurement that's more representative of the unit's power consumption and battery life, without any inefficiencies in the power supply.

This notebook has a lot of features which I hope Clevo brings to the successors of the EM line:

    - Rubberized lid
    - Matte display bezel
    - Manual graphics switching

But the soft finish SHOULD NOT be extending to the touchpad. I don't know why Clevo sees that as a good idea, as it seems as if all reviewers respond to that negatively, both with this and the P150EM/9150.

But the W370ET has certainly inspired me to save my money, to wait and see what features Clevo adds to its next generation 17.3" flagship design.

My order from RJTech has been "Processed"... since last Thursday. I know notebook vendors are typically slow, but the wait is killing me... lol. I'm used to ordering my PC parts from Newegg... I order, it ships the same day, it's here two days later, none of this "wait a week for it to even ship" mumbo-jumbo. I just want them to stuff the pieces in a box and send them my way. I'll do the rest. I only ordered the barebones and a wifi card from them. I bought the proc on ebay the same day (got here already) and the ram / ssds / etc. I already had.

I hope the Manual graphics switching comes in future EM line and also brings both 3D and Optimus to it.... But seems impossible, only if Intel add the 120Hz screens to their HD4000 screen support list. Muxed display + 3D when screen is powered by NVIDIA GPU and Optimus when screen is powered by HD4000, that'd be awesome.

That's what I'm hoping for. With some good vBIOS mods and cooling mods I'd like to see 670+ levels of performance. My goal is to beat a 670 (stock) in 3dMark11 when I eventually get an i7 to stuff in there (right now I have an i3). Not too lofty a goal, I think.

If it has half the spirit the 680M has with its ability to play with vBIOS... then there's quite a future for the 660M ;)
