Hello, I would buy the w550eu model but I would like to know if it's possible to upgrade the gpu with a nvidia 680m in the future.
I have read many threads about upgrading clevo but I don't understand if an upgrade is possible only for those models that you can find with a certain gpu already mounted. For example, p150em can mount a 660m and a 680m so I'm sure that the upgrade is possible but can I upgrade also a p151em1 that mount only 660m?

Only models with an MXM slot (it's PCI-E, but in a laptop) can have their GPUs swapped and upgraded. Anything with W in the name doesn't have this (the P series does, that's what defines them) so can't have the GPU upgraded.

They tend to have higher end cooling systems to cope with those cards too.

    Are you a Gamer ?

because if you take an Intel HD4000 in a Clevo W550EU , it would fit most people needs in term of graphical power.

Did you quote the right person? Because yeah I love playing Bioshock infinite running my GTX680M @ 1033/2600 with a nice wide FOV and all the details maxed ;)

    Hi,

I'm really keen to purchase this laptop, but I just have some quick questions about build quality.

How solid is the laptop? Is there any flex in the chassis? Also, how strong are the hinges, do they hold the display well and avoid wobbling when typing?

    Thank you!

If you mean the W550EU (this thread refers to 3 laptops... maybe 4 now the W650EU exists) then I can say the chassis is solid (I just tried to snap it, didn't flex) however it is a plastic casing so some bits of the outer shell do flex a bit, but that's outer shell not chassis. Screen wobble depends on your typing style but they hold pretty well with my relatively soft typing. If you try and open the lid for example while not holding the bottom down the laptop will all just lift up so there's decent resistance there.

Thanks for your reply! I mean the W540EU, the 14" laptop.

That's good to hear the build quality is good. Screen wobble was the one thing that I hate the most, but it's good to hear it holds up well! I saw another brand of laptop in the similar category and the loose hinges were just too disappointing.

What parts on the outer shell flex? Is the keyboard good?
