    Hello,

My Clevo W550EU has been working well for almost two years. I'm running Ubuntu Linux and I had no problem with this notebook. Until few weeks ago.

The notebook started to stop suddenly after 30 minutes. I found that strange so I tested it precisely and I found that the notebook stops after exactly 29 minutes and 53 seconds, always. The 7 seconds should be the approximate time to boot the bios...

    • I can't find anything in syslog.
    • I don't think the problem comes from the linux system (I tried other live cd and same thing happens, I also tries to run memtest, I also tried to run the bios, they all stops after 30 minutes).
    • I don't think the problem is linked to a temperature excess (the live cd that I ran showed me that all the temperature sensors were not reporting any problem, even a few seconds before the notebook stops, tempareture were around 40 degrees, far far from alert or critical temperatures)
Then I tought that it could come from the BIOS, which I tried to update.

My BIOS is actually in the following versions :
    • BIOS : 1.02.06
    • KBC/EC : 1.02.07
I tried to download the last version of the bios on the following page : http://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/W5x0EU/

"BIOS 1.03.02 and EC 1.03.01 for W55xEU only." dated from 11/11/2013

But when I try to update the EC, I get the following error : "ROM file ROMID is nos compatible with existing BIOS ROMID".

    Anyone can help me :
    • finding why my notebook stops after 30 minutes (which becomes quite irritating at last)
    • updating my BIOS to the last version
Thanks for reading, and maybe helping me.
