    Hi all,

I just tried to replace my current screen, HD 1366 x 768, with a new one, Full HD, and find out the cable of my laptop is not dual channel o_O ! so the Full HD screen powers on, but shows no image at all.

    My laptop is a Clevo W550SU - W550SU1

Any help to find a suitable lcd cable for this laptop and a Full HD screen?

    Thanks!
    Nowan

Which fhd panel did you get? It might already be compatible with this system, provided you've acquired the right cable as well. Part nr. for the 2-channel is "6-43-w5501-020-C"; send a mail to the laptop's original reseller or ask others. RJTech (US) and Goldenstar (Europe) might be a good alternative.

Expect having to fork over between $25 (lower end) and up to $50 ... which is the price of not having a standardized interface (and pin-out) at the motherboard end. Some will ask $75 or more; haggle or look elsewhere then.

    Hi t456,

The fhd panel is: InnoLux N156HGE -LA1 Rev. C1

so the specific cable I need with my laptop and the full hd Panel should be
    6-43-w5501-020-C

    Is that correct?

    Thanks

Yes, exactly right. That panel will work fine on this system once you've sourced that cable.

    Hi t456, and all.

It seems there are two possible configurations for my laptop, for the screen.

    EDP or LVDS

The cable you told me is the LVDS one.
The Intel HD Control Panel is showing that my built-in screen is using an
    "Embedded Display Port" connector,

so it looks like it is EDP, but searching around the web, I am not sure if this piece of information is 100% reliable.

Do you have any help to find out exactly what kind of cable it is? If EDP or LVDS

Sure; look up the current panel nr. with MonInfo or look at the sticker on its back. Searching Panelook's database or googling ' part nr. + pdf' ought to yield the answer.

The N156HGE-LA1 you've bought is a 2-channel LVDS, hence the LVDS cable. If the old panel turns out to be eDP then you may not need a different cable, but you would need a different panel. About half of 768p eDP panels already use 2-lane, which the 1080p eDP's require. Strictly speaking, you don't even need a different cable since copper wire = copper wire, but the pins are differently wired vis-à-vis LVDS, so it's not very practical to swap them around (bit finicky work). It's certainly possible though, provided there's enough wires present and the number of pins at the connector end matches.

    Thank you t456,

just getting confused again about it, because one seller I contacted, after I gave them all the specifics, and the product code... asked me if the cable was LVDS or EDP. That brought me to square zero, and looking at the Intel HD utility it shows the screen as EDP (that it is probably just wrong)

my current "NON Full HD" screen is this:
    http://www.panelook.com/modeldetail.php?id=22857

the new Full HD screen is LVDS as well.

So it is just a matter of finding someone that has and wants to sell me this Dual channel LVDS cable now (unfortunately, some sellers sell spare parts only to their previous customers, fair enough)

I think i been talking to you too right? Have you seen how low is the price in my quote?
They are so low that you can just buy both cables to be sure LOL.

Like i told you before, since we never sold that model i was trying to get pictures from the supplier, who did not even reply to that... so i can´t do much more, i can only supply you what you ask for with a great price :)

    Hi John,

Thanks. I just replied to your email (maybe we are finally close to the end of this)

Summary: Full HD (Dual Channel) LVDS cable, part number: "6-43-w5501-020-C"

Just waiting for a way to pay for it (Paypal is perfectly fine for me)

    Regards

P.S. I am going to get just the LVDS cable. If it is the correct one, all good... if not, I will get the EDP one. Shipping is not that expensive, and I do not want to buy parts I probably would never have any use for, if I can :)

Hello people. I'm sorry to hijack this post, but, I don't know where else to go. I believe I have the same laptop, "Clevo W550SU1", Branded Insys. My problem is that the mainboard is gone, and I want to find a replacement. And I can't seem to find. Anybody can help in finding one?
    Much appreciated.
