anybody here experience lock-ups/freezes with the nvidia 260.89 whql drivers when playing youtube (flash) videos or just simply surfing the net?

I just reformatted my laptop, installed all the latest drivers including 260.89 and when I played 2 youtube videos it froze and I had to force restart. I tried using different drivers from 186.81 to 258.69 and still experience the same issue. When the 260.89 was released last week, I was under the impression that it will fix the problem but it still did not. Can this be possibly because the of the new implement hardware acceleration of Adobe Flash Player?

Many people here report the same issues but a couple of then report also that they don't have that issue.

    Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

I got that after a flash update.

Edit: I found disabling hardware acceleration in the flash helps a bit.

So this could be possibly indicate purely a flash problem? Why can't Adobe keep things straight? This has been happening for quite some time now.

Hmm. Is this a hard fix for Adobe? Is it happening ONLY everytime you play flash videos?

Do anyone experience a freeze while surfing the net without even playing Flash videos? Although the flash videos are in another tab and they finished playing a couple of minutes back before the freeze.

I don't think system restore will fix this problem. It happened to me after reformatting and installing all the latest drivers.

Did you ever encounter a freeze without even playing flash (it's just in the background)? A few hours ago I also experienced a black screen that suddenly appeared and I had to force reboot.

I updated the 260 driver from nVidia and I initially had problems with my external monitor. So I tried to install the driver again, except this time I selected the option to remove the existing driver and settings and do a clean install of the driver. This seemed to have solved the problem, but I don't think I have any problems with playing flash videos. Hope this might help.
