I'm not the original buyer of this laptop clevo w860cu. My computer KILLS power after 30 seconds everytime when its not plugged (complete "dead" shutdown, not sleep or hibernate). It seem to use battery until then. But suddenly kills power shortly after! I didn't got my laptop upgraded many months ago and its been like this since.

My power setting seem fine. When I look at it nothing seem weird, it suppose to "sleep" when low. In my case it kills power in 30 seconds when unplugged. I can't figure why it does it. can someone help?

Battery is dead. Replace the battery.

As you said, it's an old machine, the battery was probably heavily used by the previous owner to the point that it has worn out with little battery life remaining.

I suspect its a battery. It was first used (first owner in june 2010) but I think its like this when I used in somewhere 2011. I was just to lazy to check out that it is.

On the other hand, I am consider a newer lighter laptop to buy. Perphaps I should wait a few months for the newer models to appear. (new cpu in june?)

Agreed about the battery is probably dead. You can download HWmonitor which also tells you the battery wear. If it shows a high % you can bet its done for.

BatteryCare is also a useful tool, should you decide to inspect the wear. As for the 4th gen CPUs, June 2nd is just a speculation. You may be waiting quite awhile if it's delayed, and even if it's released then, you won't see a ton of new systems hit the shelves with the new chip immediately.

Thanks for the useful tools guys. However according to both of them, the wear level is only at 56% percent. Can that kills the power after cord-pull in 30 seconds? Its possible it its software, I just don't know where it could be.

old lappy had 75% wear and it couldnt even get to the boot screen but i would of thought at 56% it should last longer than 30 seconds.

That's just the internal reading, there are other factors that can mean the usable amount is much less or it is broken.
