    Hi guys,
i just bought a Clevo W860cu wich makes some problems. First i had DPC-Latency wich i fixed with a new grafic-card-driver using 262.99 with modded inf. right now... dpc latency is gone. but: whenever i start a game/flashvideo it comes to "freezes" where the screen/animations stop but the sound still runs. those freezes happen every 4-8 seconds and take for 0,5-1,5 seconds. i got the feeling the harddisk causes all the trouble, but i cant fix it. trying to install firmware sd23 failed caus its AHCI and i guess IDE would be needed.sometimes the "intel matrix storage manger" gives me the massage "the Serial ATA-PLug-In could not be loaded, becaus the driver is not installed correctly"

I testet it in guild wars ( where i have 60-140 fps )& gtaIV. both games stuck, sometimes i even have the feeling it happens even in word. What can i do to fix those problems? already tryed to install some new drivers, re-installed windows, disabled anti-vir... please help me :)

    with friendly regards
    kain

    Hi Kain,
Do you have another HDD to test?

BTW, is your BIOS set to AHCI?

hm got another harddisk in an old laptop. maybe i can switch them but dont really know how to ;) so the idea is to change to the other hdd and if the system is acting fine i found the problem?

yepp, the bios is set to AHCI, can not switch to IDE.

Replacing the HDD is fairly easy, refer to the attached pic for details.
You can download the complete manual from here.

Personally, I'd go for a proper SSD, Intel has just slashed their G2 price and there's another reduction coming before G3 (1-2months away).

160 gb are at 300€ right? think this could be a little to much for me...
so i get a cheap one and w8 untill the prices fall and my budget rises?
//edit and do u think another 2GB RAM would help my system? is dual channel important?

That's what I do  Waiting for G3 here.

4GB should be enough for games and general work. You won't realy feel any noticeable boost from extra 2GB unless working with memory hungry applications (VT, Photoshop, databases, etc)

anyone know if the Clevo W860CU support two hard drives or no? if not, it will be a long while before there will be an affordable 500gb SSD at all.

you can replace the optical drive with a hard drive if you want 2 hard drives and don't really use the ODD
