    Hello everybody,

I have a Clevo W870CU laptop with a Core i7-720QM processor and an AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870. Since the graphics card is pretty old I thought about upgrading it. Does anybody know which MXM modules are compatible with this laptop?

    Thanks a lot,

    Alexander

I believe the GTX485M is the only other one... Or a 580M... Not too sure tbh... Options are very limited though... Your better off saving and getting a new laptop..

A 965M modern machine would be better in every way from a performance perspective than anything you do with the old one. It's certainly worth balancing the cost/benefit ratio at least.

I think the most power hungry card recommended for the motherboard by the community at the time was a 470M (which is only a little faster than the 5870M).

If I am not mistaken, the W880CU that shipped with the 480M/485M had the same motherboard as the W870CU. So it would make sense that a 485M would be a safe route. But for the money, the upgrade is probably not worth it as even the 485M won't be able to run modern titles very well. My vote would be to look for a new laptop.
