It's coming and it's gonna make your machines even more powerful! This is the new flagship: more features, more cores, more overclockability!
    Already I envy you guys!

Can someone move this to the owners' lounge?

i think they should concentrate on trying to get descktop gpu's in laptops rather than more cores.

They sort of did... Think about it. An 8800m GTX is essentially an 8800 GTS G92 512MB desktop card. A 9800m GTX is basically an underclocked 8800 GT/9800 GT desktop card, which can be 'overclocked' back to Nvidia's reference clocks for the 8800 GT/9800GT (600/900/1500).

Anyway back on topic. What's wrong with more cores?

Add more ram + a single 5870 card = flawless victory.
Since Intel stays with x58 mobo you are still on top.

Well assuming clevo/sager make the update sometime this year it should be pretty decent upgrade. I'm pretty surprised they managed to keep the tdp the same.

More cores it is better. Coding and scientific programs can take advantage of that.

We will need a BIOS upgrade for the i7 980X! Should we immediately (also) start a thread also petition just like we did for TurboBoost/Overclocking features for this new BIOS or count on luck? I would NOT be surprised if Clevo does NOT release a comaptible BIOS for the new CPU but instead an upgraded version 900x hardware that supports it (and hopefully also corrects the endless stuff we have all been hoping for on our current machines)...
