Hello good folks, ive been away from this discussion place for awhile, ive been working my butt off at my job at my airport, and enjoying my D900F on my down time.
Sorry if any one else has brought this up in a different thread, but reading about ASuS and their Nvidia 3D Vision laptop, and wishing that my D900F did the same thing has really brought up my interest.
Googling about laptops and 3D Vision brought up news posts stating that aside from ASuS, other brands such as Clevo are planning their own 3D Vision laptops.
Has anyone elaborated on what Clevo's plans for 3D Vision are?
Does any one know of _any_ body who builds OEM lcd panels for things like laptops? If I could some how install a 120hz LCD into my D900F and enable Nvidia 3D Vision in it, I would be as happy as I could be.
I already have Nvidia 3D Vision and the lil set of goggles for my desktop computer. And I love it.
I understand that the GTX 280M that comes with the D900F is not fully compatible with 120hz lcd displays, something about not supporting dual link DVI..
But if it came down to flashing the GPU's bios, or replaceing/upgrading to something newer, like a GTX 285M (where are you GTX 285M??) or to a GTX 380M-something (if and when that will ever come out) I would do it.
Right now I am really happy with my D900F, I dread that thought of over tinkering with it and some how breaking/bricking it. But I _never_ sit still for too long, and if I find my self too much down time, I am liable to want to tinkiner with anything computerized!
Please tell me that Nvidia 3D Vision for 'laptops' wont stop with ASuS and 3D Vision in general is not a dead fad!

I was wondering the exact same thing as you, as such no such luck on finding an OEM that makes the appropriate 17'' screen for the D900F though
Maybe wait till the Dual VGA refresh of the D900F comes out and well see if its got 3D Vision -
it would be nice if there were a d900f refresh.. with a updated dual link mobile geforce card and maybe even include the 120hz lcd panel.. but then that would mean buying a whole new laptop and even as a barebones its still expensive, if I could save money I would rather just buy the fewest new parts to bring it to Nvidia 3D Vision compliance myself.

you can probably do it with the ViDock.

Running a dual link dvi enabled Geforce graphics card stuffed into a box connected to a laptops 1x wide pci express port.. no thanks!

Imagine, dual 120hz 17" side by side screens running Crysis Wars 2 in Nvidia 3D Vision on your laptop.. You'd be the envy of any lan party you went to, not to mention how amazing it would be to watch NHL games or soccer games on one screen while working or even playing a game on the other. Man I hope Clevo makes one of these, Nvidia 3D Vision and dual screen would be insane for laptop gaming and Clevo would most likely be the first to bring it to us in a 17" form factor. -

What ever the successor to the D900F will be, I don't think it has to be constrained to a 17" laptop, hell I don't even care if it has a battery or not. I don't use my D900F for mobility. I say move up to a 20" and drop the battery, use the same heatsinks and heatpipes for cooling the CPU and other stuff, and then use the extra space for a second GPU.
And if enough people are using the D900F for workstation type things on the go, why not throw in say four 2.5" hotswap sata bays? They could be forward facing, maybe towards the bottom of the laptop where the battery used to be, and then keep the DVD/Bluray drive above the sata bays.
I was just never a fan of having to unscrew the panel and the battery just to get to my diskdrives... -

I have a feeling whatever it is it will have a desktop i7 and dual GPU, and hopefully NV3dVision and BIOS overclocking
I think id definatly buy it if that was the case
