I've been around the forums for a while, not as a member and I have read that clevo offers some of the best laptops, as far as power and specs go. What has bothered me the most is the horror stories that I have also read throughout the forums, such as people needing to replace motherboards, broken hdds, broken rams, case dents, and so forth. Looking at xotic pc's forums, I've seen some crazy stuff too. So, I'm kinda reluctant to order from sager, even though I know I can't get anything better. How is the build quality of clevo? What are your experiences?

the only horror stories for the gaming Clevo notebooks were the ones that came out over 2 years ago.... the Clevo D900T (aka. Alienware Area-51 m7700, Sager 98x0).

It was the first time a notebook took a desktop Socket 775 Pentium 4/Extreme, as well as have a 256-bit memory interface videocard.

Because of these amazing specs, many people bought these notebooks immediately when they came out.

But it came with many initial problems (like any other new technology):
    - heat issues (before Clevo re-did the GPU heatsink design and added the Fan Toggle)
    - a number of motherboard revisions to fix issues with power, upgrade ability, etc...

Since then, the D900K that came after the D900T became the first dual core gaming notebook that did not have the issues that plagued its D900T brother.... so Clevo learned.

Now the new D900C is the best notebook on the market because its got both innovation and amazing design (in both build quality and thermal design).

By reading the reviews for this notebook, you will find that its a solid beast.

I have the 9261 and I have to say it is one of the better laptops I have had. It is a little bulky but it is not that bad. I think my only complaint is the size of the power supply it is large. But it does keep my coffee warm. I carry mine daily back and forth from work as well as have traveled around the world with it. I have found it to be very reliable and the customer support has been very good so far much more than I got with my other laptops. At this point I would buy another when I am ready for it.

I have a rebranded Clevo, the build is good. No case flex, it is let down by design flaws.

The keyboard flexes, and rattles when you type because there is a gap. Unless you type real slow the problem is there.

The power cord blocks the CD drvie, if you point it that way.

I think Clevo make good laptops but they do have some design flaws, and it doesn't help when they dont even have the deassembely manuals on there website.

I will buy another but I am going to try and it, and maybe so some back research. Hopefully my next one, won't have as many problems.

But hopefully next year when I buy my next computer it won't have as many flaws.

    Nick.

A proud M570U owner here. Although I haven't beat the hell out of it I have typed like I'm hammering the keyboard, and it works perfectly fine. I've tested it and it can withstand some abuse, and the overall build is great. Fantastic screen. At this point there's no question as to if I'll buy another one again. Most definitely. That D901C is one helluva beast.

Stay away from notebooks (not just Clevo) that have the 'piano' finish...it looks nice in photos but I can tell you from personal appearance it will let you know how dusty your house is very quickly...lol! It also attracts and shows up fingerprints quite nicely...perfect if your murdered and CSI has to investigate but besides that not worth it.
