Hi guys Im having a hard time finding anyone selling barebone Clevo systems besides RJtech.com. Does anyone know where else to find these?

When I say "barebones", I can settle for a notebook that comes with cpu / gpu already installed, but without ram, hard drive, etc.

Additionally, where can I find components such as mobile cpus and gpus? I thought these would be available (new) from newegg, tigerdirect, etc, but I seem to be mistaken.

Perhaps my google skills are insufficient?

I think most resellers provide barebone systems, you should try and contact them. as for the mobile gpu ebay and amazon are your best bet.

The marketplace here is also a good place to get parts.
Most of the time MXM prices here will be better than ebay.

If you call a reseller most of them will quote you prices for additional customization options that they may not have listed on their website. I know several people who ordered the shell/mobo/gpu/cpu this way and then installed their own HDD, ram, etc

    hi
I am searching a while and need help about New Clevo barebones
when I find this topic did not want to create a new topic.
I am interested with the new 13" Clevo with Base, Mobo, and 3K display only.
I want to add other parts myself.
Why am I trying to do that.
The all in system is being sold in my country at 2.000$ and if I get system all in ready from abroad my country it is less 250$ only. Because of delivering and Taxes/Tariffs
so I wonder IF I can find those three parts at price of less than 500$

I'm actually somewhat curious about this - I have an 8170 3d edition and was curious how much of it I could transition to a new mb/shell. Would my LCD transition as well? etc etc

You might have issues with the 120hz display due to the special connection it uses.

Are there mbs compatible with that? Surely the 8170 wasn't the last model to use 120mhz displays

Do these mb's have manuals, like desktop mb's do?

Does that imply that SLI GPU mb's will work with the LCD?

Cool. Worth thinking about I guess - what do you suppose the price difference would be on a mb w/ an lcd vs. a mb w/o

You wont be able to put such motherboards in your shell though.

All examples would include replacing the MB + shell to fit the MB. In maximizing component reuse (GPU, CPU, RAM, HDD, SSD, etc) is it also possible to reuse the LCD from a 120mhz 3D 8170.

Based on the above conversation it would appear you can as long as the MB/Shell combo you buy is for dual GPU's.

The second part - "what do you suppose the price difference would be on a mb w/ an lcd vs. a mb w/o" is only asking for practicality reasons. Is it financially practical to reuse the LCD (if able) or to simply get the mb+shell+lcd

You are best off starting fresh apart from possibly an SSD for example.

Great thanks - that was the answer I was looking for!

It kind of sucks that the industry isn't quite there yet.

There are a few models that can be upgraded but the addition of special features like a 120hz screen can make it awkward in an already uncertain environment.
