    Hello,

I have a clevo d900c with 2x nvidia 7950gtx cards. About 4 months ago while playing a 3d game in windows it crashed on me.

Upon reboot at post there were graphical errors. Vertical red dotted lines about 1/4 inch apart all across the display. It posts fine but while trying to load windows or linux (mint aka ubuntu) when the nvidia drivers are initiated it goes totally blank.

Graphical errors at post screamed video card damage to me so I built a new desktop and left the laptop on the side.

I've now returned to the laptop and would like to fix it.

I've tried the following using the following for reference for those who own a clevo d900c/d901c.

    LEFT BACK RIGHT

    Heatsink CPU/RAM Card#1/Slot A Card/#2Slot B

    LEFT FRONT RIGHT

A picture of the components can be found below.

Just above the section "The Cooling" Slot A is #3 and Slot B is #4.

So since I expected heat damage I exposed both video cards and it seemed the one in Slot B (#2)had some bluish discolouration on the gpu. I suspect this was the one that was damaged.

However when I tried to use a single card (either of them) in slot A or slot B I get no post. When I try reversing the two cards (#2 in a and #1 in B) I get a system beep.

In their original position #1 in A, #2 in B it posts but with the graphical glitch and fails once o/s video drivers are started.

There is no sli chord and no option to disable sli in the bios.

Does anybody have any ideas? I'd like to save this system with a single card if possible.

I just tried a generic vga driver with ubuntu live cd and it fails once the driver is started as well.

    Bios is 1.00.02, KBC/EC 1.00.03N
Video bios as posted on the cards is 45.17 for card #1 and 45.16 for card #2.

Unfortunately I don't know if I can update the video bios since no manufacturer is listed on the video cards.

I guess I'll have to try updating system bios.

Issue resolved with bios .22 Appearently the issue was with the #1 card and system bios.

    Revision .16 on the D901C (Sager 9260/9262)

    "1.00.16 - 2008/05/20
    1. Solve system sometimes can't boot up after installing PCI-Express card."

After bios update the error was still present with both cards.

#1 fails with system beep in both slots #2 worked fine and loads os drivers in slot B so I kept it there to be further from the cpu/ram.

Thank you to Blacky for creating/maintaining that bios thread and to those providing bios links.
