Hi all,
I have a problem with my laptop and i seriously need help. I am using a Clevo w110ER and it is not detecting my GT650M gpu in device manager. All it detects is the Intel HD 4000 which it is using at the moment. I tried installing the latest drivers from Nvidia but it says there is no compatible hardware found.
- I've tried to uninstall and reinstall both drivers on the laptop. I installed the Intel HD card first and it worked fine. Then i tried the Nvidia drivers, still says there is no compatible hardware found.
- I tried modifying the .INF files but still nothing.
I'm at my wits end and frustrated as hell. Please...seriously need some help![]()

Is there any sign of it in the bios? Your chip may be damaged and the system is now running in IGP only mode.

Hi Meaker,
No sign of it on the bios
sigh..was hoping not to have to buy another laptop. Thanks. So i'm assuming trying to reinstall the OS isn't going to be of any help?

It probably wont help but worth a try to save the notebook, it will just cost you some time. Also try installed the original drivers that come with the computer on a disc.

Hey Hutsady,
Yeah,i'm trying to leave that as the last resort..sigh..i was hoping it was just a driver issue. I did use the drivers that were originally from the vendor. Could someone confirm the steps i need to take to reinstall the graphic drivers? Just so i know i did it right or wrong?
- Unstalled Nvidia drivers
- Reboot
- Uninstall Intel HD drivers
- Reboot
- Install Intel HD drivers
- Reboot
- Install Nvidia drivers (or rather attempted to)
- failed. Hardware not detected.
Well,at least the whole laptop isn't fried and i can game somewhat..sigh -
One other thing I can say is shut down, remove power, remove battery, open the bottom and remove the CMOS button battery and let it sit for 60 seconds to reset the CMOS. Then put everything back together and check your BIOS if the GPU exists.

If comfortable you can also physically remove the GPU and inspect it for any electrical short-outs or damage.
-
I think the GPU in the W110 is soldered to the motherboard probably lol..

Indeed, forgot about which model exactly we were talking about. -

There is the potential for a bga repair shop to remove the original chip and solder on a new one of the same type.
-
I'd probably give this one a shot. Though where the heck do i find the CMOS button battery? I'm willing to try anything at this point.
-
Thought of that and i was hoping the people who sold me the laptop would do the same but apparently they said i'll need to change the motherboard altogether. Which is gonna cost me..

If you remove the hard drive you should see the battery. -

A local technician might be able to do this type of repair, but it's no small task, and it may also be costly. -

In the UK it would cost about 35 pounds plus shipping if you remove the motherboard yourself and ship it off bare.

I have the same problem with a Sager NP7338. Couldn't find a solution either, so I'm filling an RMA. Hopefully it all works well and it never happens again

It happens with some nvidia chips still on occasion.
