Hi folks. I haven't bought a gaming laptop in many years, but I really liked Clevo-based systems back in the day. My sister is in the market for a 15" mid-range (~800 to 1000 bucks) system that will be able to play most games released within about 4 years or so. She also does some video editing and such.
Is a Clevo system still a good option relative to others? Can she get what she needs at that price point? Thanks much!

Maybe this will help you: https://noteb.com/?search/search.php?prod=CLEVO&browse_by=prod&sort_by=value
I think a Clevo system is a decent choice. They don't have the best aesthetics, but Clevo laptops tend to last many years and are relatively easy to repair.TikiPrime likes this. -
Yes, same guts, cheaper aesthetic. Less marketing $ spent, better value.
I picked up a system on ebay with a 9th gen I7 for ~$700 and then packed it with the options I wanted for a couple hundred more.
Look for the fundamentals first CPUGPU and then go from there figuring you can do RAM for 32GB @ $100 / upgrade the WIFI to an Intel AX210 $25 / NVME 1TB ~$130... this is a good first upgrade to do to any system for speed / reliability.TikiPrime likes this. -
Thanks. What current GPU should she want for her price range?

Sorry to go offtopic here. Where did you get your AX210? I bought one from AliExpress and works pretty badly. It is reported as AX210, but my older Wifi module got better speeds.

I bought a couple of then off Amazon for $25/ea and got a discount through using some CC points.

I see some similarly priced systems have a 2060 instead. There appears to be conflicting information about which is superior on GPU comparison sites. What is your opinion?

RTX 2060 will definitely be better.

The extra Vram on the 2060 will help moving forward as well.
