It seems lately bashing the Clevo keyboard is how you demonstrate how elite you are. But I think Jarred is just a whiny prima-donna, and these results show the keyboard is fine for typing on. I'm not saying the best, but it's definitely not the worst keyboard.

Wow, this keyboard must be worse than 93% of all the keyboards people used to type for this simple test. This is the worst keyboard for sure.

I started another post called "P170em keyboard woes" a little over a week ago. I have to say, I really like the look and feel of the keyboard. My main concern is that it misses a lot of keystrokes for specific keys. I am currently awaiting a replacement keyboard from my reseller. Hopefully that will fix the missed keystroke problem, but otherwise the keyboard looks and feels great to me.

I've had my Malibal Satori P170EM since August. I love the keyboard, it looks cool and works great. The only problem I've ever had was sometimes the left shift key doesn't respond in game. This only ever happened in Need For Speed The Run, shift is the NOS key so it wasn't to horrible.

It's really strange, I had a swiss keyboard layout and it was missing a ton of keystrokes, now I've got a UK layout from PCS's and Im not missing a single stroke, Im really happy with it.... guess I got lucky

EM series keyboard is ok - sometimes it misses a few keystrokes but i have quickly learned to push those keystrokes in a little harder. My main problem with it is that UK layout is very stupid - for some reason they've copied US keyboard layout, so several important keys like "\" and "#" are in a different place. I also dont like where they've put the windows key - i've always used it for quick shortcuts and now its become a little bit more cumbersome to use as you have to use both hands to trigger Win+R or something similar.

This thread should have been named "keyboard typing contest". No reason to disguise it really :D

Well, I think it kind of proves the point though. If the keyboards in these Sager laptops was just "atrocious" as some people have put it, then wouldn't it stand to reason that the scores on the typing tests would be far lower due to the "constantly missing keystrokes"?

I guess it can be luck of the draw though, and the same arguments can be made for the MSI SteelSeries keyboards too. If anyone recalls visiting the MSI forums last year I believe? There were some complaints with the SteelSeries keyboards as well.

I still find it humorous that folks are still claiming that the SteelSeries is just a better keyboard over the Sager keyboard though. Both are manufactured by Sunrex, and you can expect similar results from both.

Yep you're right, the testings are not a really fair comparison - having owned both keyboards, fully working and no hard/dodgy keys, I have a little preference for the MSI Steelseries keyb. due to its better backlighting and overall design/look.
Lot of issues with both keyboard it seems, you just have to be lucky with the one you've got, either msi's or sager's.

But you do have to admit, if the keyboard is so terrible, we wouldn't be typing 80-100 WPM with only 2-3 words spelled wrong, accuracy in the high 93-97%. That's about as good as people type with mechanical keyboards at 80-100 WPM.

The only complaint i have about mine is the shift key not working, and that is not reflected in these tests. Still, the Clevo keyboard isn't something that is completely impossible to type out an intelligible sentence with.

Really have no major issues with the keyboard. Not a big fan of the layout, but it works well.

I own a NP9150 and think the keyboard is awesome. I am sick of people stating "it sucks" as if that is some kind of provable fact. Keyboards preferences in general are extremely subjective.

I suck at typing on all keyboards, but I type the best when I am using my laptop. If you don't like it, then use an external keyboard. But please stop making threads that bash it.

Does the Steel Series suffer from the same ghosting issues as the stock keyboard? When I pres E (forward) + W (run) I can't press SPACE (jump) at the same time.

That is correct. Basically, when the keyboards are made by the same company it can be expected that both will have similar issues. Whether or not they take customer feedback in refine their keyboards though, well I guess we will have to wait and see. :)

I can't remember the fellow but he was posting in the forums a couple months back looking for that "perfect" keyboard and rather than using the standard WASD for movement, he had it shifted to ESDF if I recall and had people perform some odd typing tests. I'm not sure if he ever got the results or found the "perfect" keyboard.

But the stock Clevo/Sager keyboard and the MSI GT Steel Series keyboard are not made by the same company. That's why I asked if there was a ghosting issue with the latter.

Actually, they are. Again, both keyboards are made by Sunrex, just a different part number and key design.

The only other difference is one is installed in MSI laptops and the other is installed in Sager laptops. Same manufacturer for both keyboards though.

Hate to dig up an old topic but... I'm on the fence about getting a Clevo W650SR and my only concern is the keyboard. I have never used a clevo before and can't find them locally to try out. I also haven't seen any in-depth reviews of their keyboards. Has anyone used the W650 keyboard that can vouch for it's quality?

I got the clevo w650sz. I hate the keyboard. You have to hit dead center for the keys to register. Does anyone know if I can replace the (chichlet) w650sz keyboard with a different version. I don't care about backlit. Just a keyboard I can type fast.
Would the p150em series compatible with the w650sz? I don't really care as long it's more decent than what I have.

Have you tried the Steel Series keyboard. It allows more simultaneous keys. It's also Chiclet style so less error prone. I bought the Steel Series, but ultimately I decided on a usb keyboard.
