Hey guys, thanks for the help in my decision of what notebook to get! (one of the incarnations of the Clevo M570U) Now it's time to get some gear for it, so here we go again.
1. I need a mouse that will have precise, smooth responses, preferably wireless with no lag. It will be used for a lot of things, the most demanding of which is probably gaming. As far as price goes, I don't want something cheap, more a good deal for the money. Nothing exorbitantly expensive. Style is a plus, as is not having to change batteries often.
2. Laptop Battery. In looking around at Clevo M570U offerings by different resellers, I noticed that different batteries were offered. WidowPC has a 12 cell battery, the actual clevo site has an 8 cell battery listed, so I'm not really sure what I should be looking for. I'd like the one that offers longest battery life, and I'd assume that both types must work. Any thoughts?
3. 17" laptop backpack with room for textbooks. I have a laptop bag that would work, but if there's a backpack I'd be interested.
4. I already have headphones!
5. Last but not least, I was wondering if you could recommend an external hard-drive enclosure for an internal harddrive I have. It's a 7200 rpm ATA/133 drive. I could transfer the data to a newer drive, but if there's a cheap enclosure out there that would do the job...? What do you think?
Feel free to make recommendations on whatever part you feel like, no need to do them all. Thanks again guys, I'm glad I found your site.

well...
you should read:
Kilim's Review for his Sager 5760 (Clevo M570U) Accessories.
It covers all your questions, except for the battery.
Note: I actually got the backpack and the notebook cooler that he suggested in the review... i must say that i was not disappointed and am very happy using them right now. As for the mouse i got the Logitech MX518 (branded by Asus) because i didnt like the way the retail version looks... it has an optical illusion on the mouse to make it look like its been seriously dented. I also was looking at the G5, but i also looked like crap (rusted metal on a mouse), and it only had 1 thumb button.
Read my thread about choosing a mouse:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=99530
As for the battery question:
I believe that there is only a 8-cell battery available for the Clevo M570U. And an optional 6-cell battery for the optical drive bay (meaning that its is swapped out).
If there is a 12-cell battery for it, then its definitely going to give you the best batterylife overall. -

I have the Kensington Contour backpack listed in the accessories review. It is a very well made bag and extremely comfortable. My only issue is my 5760 takes a little bit of finessing to close the notebook compartment. Since it is such a tight fit, the upper corners can easily be felt from the top of the bag. That isn't too bad for me since I just walk to and from my car at work. It may be just my particular bag as Kilim's 5760 seems to be sitting a bit lower than mine judging by the photos of the above review.
I haven't tried to pack the Kensington to the gills yet, but it should easily fit a textbook or two. How much extra storage for books were you looking for? -
1. Simply the best mouse on the market - http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=048

Mice are like keyboards. One mans meat is another mans poison.
I've always loved my MX1000 mouse. But if you're in the US go down to the local CompUSA or Frys and get a feeling for how the mice feel there. Ultimately how comfortable a mouse feels will be the most important factor. There are some mice that have major issues but these can be identified by a quick look on newegg. -
1. Agreed with the MS mouse, but go with the presenter 8000. It's bluetooth so you won't even need the dongle. Plus there's some controls underneath for play/pause/ff/rwd and a laser pointer. Neat.
2. You can go with a secondary battery that goes in the ODD slot. Some reported incompatibilities with the nvidia 7900gtx but I never experienced those. I'm almost always using the 2 batteries and it pumps up the normal usage time to 2.5 hours.
3. One word: BOOQ. If you're a student - go for the python. But I went for the BOA as I thought it was more professional.
4. ok! Are they bluetooth? ;-)
5. Yeah the Vantec are nice cheap enclosures. But those for 3.5" are not portable. If looking for something portable, get a 2.5" with a vantec. That be a nice backup solution. -
Thank you very much for the suggestions guys!
--As far as the battery goes, I'm currently waiting to hear back from widowpc about the 12 cell battery they offer for their m570u machine. I'm guessing that will happen in the next few days. If they don't e-mail me back I'll try calling.
--As for the backpack, the thing that sucks is I need to be able to carry around more than just my laptop and accessories, I will be on a university campus where I will have to port around my textbooks. This makes style virtually out of the question based on the options I've found. I'm currently thinking the Ebags Macroloader will be my choice, seeing as I can fit a couple large textbooks in along with my laptop.
--One thing I forgot to mention was cooling, which I think I'll go with the Zalman ZM-NC1000 on. I did a lot of considering between that, the Vantec Lapcool4, and the coolermaster notepal w1, decided that I'd rather stick with the best performance for when I'm gaming, which will probably be a place I can have the cooler without portability. I won't be gaming so much on the go, but for lan gaming I can probably manage to pack the zalman... it's not THAT much of a hassle.
--The mouse is still being decided... I'll try to get into the stores and hope they have the models I'm looking at to get a hands on look. (G7, VX revolution, MS wireless) Did decide to go with wireless, looks steady enough for me and I really would prefer to lose the cord. -
dont even consider the Cooler Master NotePal W1, i have one, it is not made to support current 17" notebooks, because the notebook will fall backwards.
Its stage size needs to be 2 inches deeper to even make it a consideration.
I like my LapCool4 since it can fold up easily and fit in with my backpack... which has folders and books. -
Go with the Zalman. I have one and it'a always on when gaming or when the laptop is on for long periods. It's very very well made. I made a review some times ago. Probably in the review section.

Just a quick update... the battery at widowpc.com was listed as a 12 cell for the clevo M570U, but upon getting in touch with their tech staff I found that the listing was an error, and the battery is in fact just the same as the 570 battiers in all the other machines. Too bad, would have been nice to have a 12 cell available. Anyways, I was told that the description on their sales page would be updated.

I got the following stuff with my 5760:
- backpack: Targus Sports Deluxe
- headphones: Sennheiser Px200
- mouse: Logitech G5
- mouse pad: Steelpad Qck mini
Very happy with everything I bought so far. -
nice, i was thinking of getting those headphones too
... but it was not portable enough to fit in my backpack (w/o getting swished)
guess im looking for good ear buds, or ergonomic headphones that hang on the contour of the ears without the discomfort from ear buds. -
-
i guess it might fit, but i have A LOT of crap in my backpack already, i'll have to check out the thickness in person.
thx for the pic. -
I loves my Logitech MX900 w/ my 5760. Best mouse I've ever had (used to be a hardcore MS Intellimouse fan).
Not available anymore, but I haven't found anything to replace it w/ for the day that I eventually wear it out (MX1000 isn't BT, so that's not an option).
