Hi! i ordered an 8800m Gtx from a store here in portugal, but the thing is, it says its an MXM-IV type card and i dont think my clevo supporta type IV. At least in the service manual it only talks about mxm-iii connector......i hope im wrong though.,...

it only speaks of MXM-III.... since the only modules that are safe to use are MXM-III (with HE tab), which are:
    - 8800M GTX
    - 9800M GT

Sager (and Clevo) have already tested the 9800M GTX (MXM-IV) in this system, the heat and power requirements are too much for it. (from the Sticky)

So later on when there are lower powered and cooler running high-end cards, the system should support them fine... and officially.

you ordered the notebook without a videocard??

there are a couple of problems that you might run into by doing that:
1.) the heatsink/fan module will not be compatible with the notebook's chassis
2.) the size of the card might cause an issue depending on which version of card is purchased separately
3.) wasted your time and efforts if either of the above two becomes your obstacle.

when buying barebones, you should always get the videocard with it.... that is what I did back when I built my D900K in 2006.

you better hope for the best... but without the proper heatsink/pipe module, you are not going to get far.

if its this version, then you might have a chance..... as long as you have the correct heatsink kit for the M860TU:

initial versions of the 8800M GTX were in MXM Type IV .... or a longer profile MXM III (with HE tab).

but now, you will mainly only find MXM-III (with HE tab) versions of the card... either in low profile or large profile forms.

FYI, Clevo does not manufacture, nor do they design the MXM cards.... thats on the shoulders of Nvidia.

Take a look at this and compare it to mine:

    http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/3817/photo073hi1.jpg

It says its a 9800m Gt, but the heatsink seems a little different from mine.

it can be different since there are revisions of the heatsink caging and piping to improve cooling.

just try your caging and see it it fits

and make sure that it is getting proper cooling by monitoring temps when benchmarking.

seems like the website is not fully accurate.

It says that they are selling a Nvidia 9600M GT thats MXM-IV..... :p

so you should be fine since I think the site does not know how to accurately label the difference between MXM-II, MXM-III, and MXM-IV.

I am sure you are getting a MXM Type III of the 8800M GTX.

I just hope that the heatsink supports this 8800m Gtx... :p

Also i assume that the copper case will be the same, just that the heatsink will change.

I'll just talk here, instead of through pm. Our heatsinks do have a few slight differences. but nor I or my father could find a critical difference.

    For anyone else's comparison:

Worst case scenario is that you'll have to call up a place like RJTech to order the proper heatsink.

Well the first thing noticeable, is the that mine is more flat.....obviously this doesnt mean that it wont support the 8800m Gtx.
