I wonder how many of those notebooks are performance notebooks.

The source article for the Clevo link is also interesting:

This is curious: when sold in Europe and North America, Clevo's notebooks are generally more expensive than what is considered "mainstream". I wonder how they manage to sell so many of them in Latin America -- either what they're selling there is a lot cheaper or the "mainstream" there is a lot more expensive.

I am guessing they are from the lower end of the Clevo line up down in L.A. Here in Japan most Clevo's being rebranded and sold are mainstream notebooks without gaming grade discrete graphics.

Usually, technology in 3rd world countries is late and very expensive. For example, Cuba just got DVDs and they are more expensive than Blu-rays in the USA. So the mainstream there is a lot more expensive, and Clevo might be the only ones selling the new tech there.

Second-tier notebook maker Clevo expects shipments to rise 33% on year to 360,000 units in the first quarter of 2010 with volume to reach 480,000 units in the second quarter and total two million units for the year, according to the company.

    Moreover:
Clevo is showcasing products featuring Magic of Film Art (MOFA), a technology for printing client-designed patterns on the notebook chassis at CeBIT 2010, the company indicated.

It will also present some notebooks using Nvidia's Optimus technology and the X8100.

You were involved with a bad line, yes, but can you not admit that the last couple generations have been top notch?
