Does someone have a fix for this? Whenever the turbo fan is activated due to high temperatures, it will NOT shut off by itself....right now my laptop is at 50 degrees celsius and the fan is still going on NON STOP....fn+1 will not turn it off (the fan seems to slow down for a bit, then it goes back to full speed).

its a known problem over quite a few clevo's

all i do is have a shortcut on desktop for nvidia inspector. open it,wait 2 seconds, close it and the fans will stop.

if you have ati card then im not sure what to use but try a few monitoring programs from my sig below. one should work.

You could try flashing Prema's modded BIOS.

I have a P370SM with 780M SLI and I also have a similar problem with max fans. If I force max fans with Fn+1 when the system is not under load, the slave GPU fan just gets stuck on full throttle and never comes down. Apart from the obvious sleep/restart/shut down solutions, running a program that loads the GPU causes the fan to become unstuck after a brief period.

Initially I thought this was because the slave GPU had to cross a certain temperature threshold before the temp sensor would kick in and control the fans, but after emailing my supplier's tech support this is what they had to say:

I wonder if for Optimus enabled systems, whether it might be the case that only the iGPU is used when the system is idling, so the discrete GPU gets powered down and the fans get stuck on full throttle?

best put a disclaimer that depending on supplier this could void their warranty.
every supplier is different so its best to check with them first before attempting to update the bios.

I have a nvidia card, just tried this, but having nvidia inspector open doesnt do anything with the fans....closing nvidia inspector does nothing as well.

Im using PREMA's bios and ive no problems with the fan. It spins up when needed and then goes down when idle.
My laptop has one fan, though.

My understanding is Prema is only modifying bios which does not control fan information so has no impact. The EC controls all this and thus far no one has been able to modify that.

Any chance of an official fix for this? Has any reseller reported this to Clevo before?

Sigh and im guessing they didnt care enough to fix it....

Is it normal for this laptop to be running hot btw? The CPU temp quickly hits 70 degrees on default clocks...when it runs at 3.29 ghz. This is with the laptop sitting on a cooling pad with the fan running and i just cleaned the fans and heatsinks out a few weeks ago...

Yes, the temperature doesnt concern me, its the problem where the fan gets stuck at 100% speed. I cant game if the laptop sounds like a plane taking off.

So to be clear there is no actual workaround for this? No way to avoid the turbo fan turning on at 70 degrees + creating a hell of a noise and making it impossible to use the laptop?

How do people with the same laptop do gaming or anything intensive then?

Sounds like your EC is messed, just flash latest stock or Mod from my blog and follow the readme to the dot. The "remove PSU after the flash is complete and the system has shutdown step" is very important to clear old FAN values.

Prema, dude, if I had a paypal account, Id donate to the project you are working on! I might create one when I set up a debit card account at some point.
What Im trying to say is - thanks for the wonderful BIOS you make for us, the users! I can't believe the performance increase in my W370ET after turbo boost got unlocked and the fan is quieter too!
That might be due to the fact that the fan stays at low-speed until 48'C and only after that starts working in higher speeds (used to work on higher speeds in mid 45'C or so).

Does anyone know what "PSU" refers to exactly? I know it means power supply unit but i have no idea where it is on my laptop....or is it referring to the AC adapter?

Edit : I get a blinking cursor after booting from USB but i cannot type anything....whats going on? I just get a very loud clacking sound after a while when i press the keyboard keys (at first, its silent).

the psu is the power brick that connects from the mains to your lappy.
