For some reason, my screen has gotten discolored and appears to be slowly getting worse.

There are discolored areas on the screen, these do not show up in screenshots and can be seen in all applications. The discolored area seems to be slowly getting larger, but I cannot figure out why as I am not even touching the screen.

Someone told me that the diffuser panel is damaged. Whatever the case, can anyone advise on the best/cheapest way to fix this? The laptop is out of warranty and my reseller is out of business too, so I cannot contact them to buy parts, etc.

Screens are fortunately pretty generic parts, a new panel will solve that issue. Look in device manager, monitors, properties, details and hardware Ids to see what the panel is.
