I came across this video in which a Clevo rep(Kyle) unveils a p150hm with the illuminated keyboard.
The video was posted June of 2011 but the back-lit keys are clearly seen on the p150hm. Im surprised noone has brought this up?![]()

Backlit keyboard on a P150HM isnt happening. Theres nothing on the mobo to power it. Its successor - the P150EM is supposed to have a backlit keyboard, though its not confirmed yet.
-
that video has pop-ed up several times in the forums even this month;
beside seems like you joined the forums this year
Why do people "need" that feature anyway ;p -
HM65 chipset will not allow overclocking of the CPU, will it?
-
whos pointing a gun at the rep?
-
Bwahahahaha, my thoughts exactly. That looks like a sweet p170. Vid is hilarious.
-
I just love this comment posted below the vid on Youtube:
"Never mind the backlit keyboard, has anyone found out who was pointing a rocket at him off camera?"
The look he had was priceless, I LMFAO, especially after reading that above comment.
Back on topic, this vid and news has been around for a while now, although I can see how easy it is to miss it what with all the threads and the massive owners thread. -
Yeah, there has been numerous threads brought up lately about back-lit keys and there you have it in the video so everyone who wanted it can see it.
Personally I dont care for back-lit keys.
Edit/ I like Kyle. He seems cool. -

Nope, it won't. You'd need the HM67 chipset and an unlocked CPU (2960XM) to be able to use the unlocked multiplier. -
Once you have it you wont want to go back to the non backlit keyboard. Personally I can't live without it. -
Here in turkey the new models are already on sale
but orders will be delievered on june 2012
here is the link:
Monster -
Oh Turkey already has it for pre-order? It seems like ivy and 660M made it to clevo, but there might be more newer versions of gpu by the time June arrives.
-
Very interesting. Thanks for the link.
-
Thanks for that link, good pickup. Only offering the 660M at the moment, which should be the 560M replacement if my gut serves me right. Some people are stating that there should be a fairly large performance jump. The 580M replacement should come out sometime mid-year I reckon.
And I have to admit, going from a backlit k/b to a non-backlit sucked initially, but I got used to it. Still, if I have the option, I'd like one, but not a deal breaker for me. About time Clevo put one in though. -
If you pay attention to the CPU config section in that link, they are all Engineer Samples.
And I have a feeling they are just purely based on speculations. If Intel/NVIDIA/Clevo delays, they will just shoot an email to notify pre-orderers -
Ah yes, we've seen Kyle before. Believe it or not, he has improved.
-
Anyone that can make a modified backlight keyboard for pre-existing P170HM and P150Hm owners will be a rich man...
-
Any links? Nothing like watching a little bit Kyle while being down with fever...
-
woot mxm 3.0b!
-
Same here. i wanna see some more.
-
Turns out it was the same video, just posted right after this event actually happened back in June.

Awww i was so lookin forward to more Kyle!
-
Ask them for the 660M's technical details.
-
I bet if they answer, it's just gonna be from those speculative leaked charts. You can find better luck on those dates with someone whom has their hands on CES laptops with Kepler like Lenovo Y580
-
1GB GDDR5 nVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M; 128-Bit; DX11; PhysX; DVI-DL; MXM 3.0b; 65W
thats all they know
-
Whoa, I click on it today, and they've added the 670M, 675M, and 680M to the list.
The 675M and 680M are both way more expensive than the 580M. I see Nvidia hasn't changed one bit, if these are accurate prices. -
Here is what I would like answered: Since all these Clevo models are still using the same "cases/screens", can you just outright buy a motherboard and keyboard so you can update your current clevo to incorperate the backlighting function? I mean a good desktop motherboard goes for around 100 bucks or so, laptop motherboards shouldnt be any more expensive in reality. And I can garentee the new motherboards will bolt up in place of the old ones..........I mean, these Clevo laptops are extremely easy to work on and field service.

Yes these models are easy to work on, however the motherboards are over $400.00 US each...

That ~$400 would be cheaper than re-buying an entire $2k notebook though....
Me? I'm only interested in upgrading to one of the 600M or 7000M options. -
So GeForce 6xx is MXM 3.0b? This is great news for current owners.
Beat me to it. Staying team red? Surely with those prices. -
$400 without an IB CPU.. Lol plus another 300-700 gor GPU
-
Exactly..............not like I would want to rebuy an entire computer for the backlit keyboard, plus you might be able to recoup some of the upgrade cost by selling off the old motherboard on Ebay or a forum.......
-
Hey guys, for further discussion on that Turkish vendor, go over this thread
