for a while now my usb ports when I try to plug something like my phone or hard drive in it, would constantly reconnect and disconnect, as in like 1 reconnect/second. Anyone know why or experienced something similar?

Sorry to bring up the old topic, but since the question was already asked...

But yeah, mine has been doing the same too, for the last couple months, actually. This occurs on the USB 3.0 (blue colored) usb slots on the right side (all 3 ports, especially the front one). However, the middle and rear slot, which I have a keyboard and mouse plugged into most of the time, never give me any issues. But if I plug in my HTC One phone or an external HDD of any kind into any of the 3 ports, it'll reconnect/disconnect/close/undetect, which makes browsing files/copying files really frustrating...

Someone's gotta know the solution! Please advise@_@

Nvm, found the solution: "What is happening is that usb3.0 has some power saving mode that lets the hard drive power down.
    Here is the fix.
control panel/power options/change plan settings/change advanced power settings/USB settings /USB selective suspend setting
The set the plugged in option to disabled."

It works! Make sure you set this for all your power modes (power saver, balanced, high performance, etc.)
