I recently bought 8go of ram 2x4go and I installed them in my laptop Clevo w870cu but to my surprise every time I boot win7 I get a bsod screen , I ran a memtest from boot but the system either stop responding or reboot immediately when the test start, I tested the same rams in another computer and they work flawlessely in win7 and memtest reported no errors.

Am I doing something wrong trying to upgrade to 8go , I know that my laptop support a maximum of 8go , and I have the latest bios version installed BIOS V 1.00.18 & EC V 1.00.14

the newly bought rams are corsair value select 1333mhz

and these are the one that ran before the upgrade

Did I miss something while doing the upgrade ?

The bsod occurs only when I put the new rams, when I reinstall the old ones everything is ok.

I forgot to mention that those rams work with no bsod in windows xp 32 bits but only 3go is available.

that means that one of you ram modules or ram socket is faulty, and it doesn´t support larger ram modules. when you tried win xp it only uses one ram module and socket, and only 3gigs of that ram module.

The situation now just got from bad to worse, while doing a bios update the laptop lost power and all I get now is a black screen, I've been reading a lot about this problem and couldn't figure what are the hot keys for crisis disk. While reading the service manuel p.64 (870CU System Block Diagram) I see that this motherboard is equipped with Bios Spi with which you can flash the bios even if the bios is corrupted as long as the motherboard is equipped with SPI Flash pinout, now my question is where can I find those pinout on my motherbard

Here's a photo showing the pins I'm talking about, can anyone confirm if these pins are the ones used to flash bios through Spi?

What happened exactly is that I downgraded the bios to an earlier version which doesn't support my gpu ( GTX 460M ) and after that I got the message Unkown Vga Card and laptop shuts itself off automatically after less than 3 minutes or less, I tried to reflash the latest version and I miscalculated the necessary time for the flashing procedure and while flashing the laptop shut itself off again before it was over. that what happened.

After a lot of reading and googling I finally succeded in repairing my laptop, I had to desolder the bios chip from the motherboard and I used a diy Parallel Port SPI Flash Programmer to relfash the bios and after some trial and error it worked like a charm, I soldered back the bios chip to the motherboard and now it's working correctly no more black screen, I followed the recommandations here :
Parallel Port SPI Flash Programmer (and Unbrick via WM8650 tablet) | Write code

Now there's a little thing that has changed , if I start the laptop and I press ctrl+alt+del at post screen the laptop won't reboot but it would shut off, and I have 4 Go of ram installed when I get into the bios it only recognize 3,80 Go I tried to reseat the ram so many times , and the same thing happens in win7 64bits 4go(3,80 usable).

Well it's worse than that ,everytime I boot I get the following message " ME FW Update Failed,Please Try again!"

now the the Cpu fan doesn't spin at boot nor while in windows causing the cpu to heat, the only way to make it spin is to press the Silent Button, but it only spins the Cpu fan at a low rpm.

I'm still investigating where this problem comes from. If you have any suggestions I will more than happy to read.

Ok with it booting you should now reflash your EC and BIOS with ones you know are right.

    Thanks for the Advice
I reflashed the EC and BIOS with the latest version EC version 1.00.14 and BIOS version 1.00.18 , the message " ME FW Update Failed,Please Try again!" doesn't appear anymore, but the cpu fan still doesn't spin unless I press the silent button, and when in the BIOS or even in windows 7 64bits I only get 3,60 Go of ram out of 4Go .

while recovering the bios using the Parallel Port SPI Flash Programmer I had to erase the bios chip and rewrite it again , could I have erased some blocks that the official bios flasher doesn't overwrite ?

Yes very possible, you may want to contact Sager/clevo directly and see if they have some deep level programming tool like MSI.
