    Hey guys.

I got my Malibal Lotus and i'm trying to determine which drivers people are using.. From Notebook check, the 6990m should score 3500 or so on 3dmark 11.. but i'm only getting around 2500.. 6000+ for physics but 2500-2600 for both of the others.. i'm running the 12.1 preview driver. FYI i'm using the performance setting in 3dmark.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. just trying to get my computer running properly..

    Thanks!

That's not right... My 6970 in my P150HM gets 2900-3000 on gpu with stock clocks running 12.1. Use GPU-Z and tell us the driver listed. You may be running 12.1 CCC, but a different driver. It should be 8.930.10.0.

If you are running the correct drivers, check all power options. Also check CCC settings and make sure they aren't maxed out. That will lower your score a ton.

    GPU-Z shows atiumdag 8.930.10.0 (Catalyst 12.1)/Win7 64

I haven't touched ATI overdrive if thats what your referring to..

    This has me stumped!

I ran it again with clock speeds of 715/900 and got 2968 as a graphics score, 5971 for physics, and 2935 for combined score..

Are you running on AC power with your power plans both set to high performance? (You need to change the Windows settings and the hotkey settings for power)

I'm running AC power and the power plan is high performance.. what do you mean by hotkey settings though? What are the hotkeys for power?

The hotkey driver installs an icon to your taskbar. Look for a laptop shaped icon. If you right click that, it has options for power plan settings. These override the Windows settings if you set them too low.

ah ok. I've set that at performance as well...

After lots of tweaking, i've managed to hit 3200 is that closer to what people are getting?

When I first recieved my machine I was pulling a little over 3500 in 3D Marks 11 with Sagers pre-installed drivers. After I updated the drivers to 8.930.10.0 (Catalyst 12.1) I get a score in the 3290's. Not sure why the drop. Nothing else has changed. Clock speeds of 715/900. I just ran Skyrim last night on Ultra (detected and set by the game) and it was as smooth as can be. No complaints here.

um... yeah dont flip if your score is a bit lower. it only matters if its way low like 50% of what other peeps get.

also make sure yo power settings are set to performance.

    Mine. 850/1125

    3DMark11: 4154 Vantage: 17074

Around stock I saw about 3400-3500 on 3DMark11 I am using 12.1 CCC and 11.11 for the tests. Core Parking dropped me a good 200 pts until I disabled it might be your problem. below 3k on this absolute beast is too low.

Same here although I never changed my drivers still have default drivers and am stumped as to what has caused it. My 3dmark11 score was 3565 and then after a few weeks it went to 3270 and around the 3280 mark repeated several times.
Curious if others have seen this and what solution there is.

    TIA :)

    My score in 3Dmark 11 is 3981. running at 810/1050. CCC 11.12
My 6990M cannot run at your clockrate, it will stutter and eventually be disabled
at 830/1100. and I haven't disable core parking.

Since we're on the subject overclocking, can anyone give me a good idea of the parameters I should be working in? I get that the danger zone with GPU temps is 90C and to look for artifacts that indicate that the GPU might be being pushed to hard, but what I don't know is about voltage manipulation. By the way, when you're overclocking, are you setting your fans to 100% when you're running a game or benchmark? I've installed Sapphire Trixx, but I've realized that I don't know enough about what I'm doing to go crazy.

I'd highly recommend not touching voltage at all. The tolerances are very tight on mobile chips, and unless you know what you're doing you could easily fry something.

As to fans, that's up to you. If you use FN+1, just remember that any overclock you get to be stable that way will require you to run max fans all the time to keep the same thermal ranges.

I used trixx for testing but just flashed my Vbios with my stable clocks.

Scarily it can go higher upto around 870/1175 but I have not run benchmarks on that yet. I might get round to it and see what it can punch out.

To disable core parking (below) it might not make a difference for you it just did on my setup for some reason.

    1. Copy the following registry key entry between the brackets [ 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583 ].

    2. Select your start button.

    3. In the search box, type ‘regedit’ and press enter.

    4. Once your registry editor is open, select ‘Edit’ and ‘Find…’.

    5. Paste the above registry key in the box and select ‘Find’.

    6. Once it has located it, look for the keys on the right hand side labeled MinValue and MaxValue.

    7. Double click on each value and make sure they are both set to ’0′.

    8. Select ‘Edit’ and ‘Find Next…’.

    9. Continue to replace MinValue and MaxValue for each entry until you have replaced them all.

    10. Close the registry editor and shut down your computer.

    11. Power the computer back up.

    12. Core Parking should now be disabled.

Simply dont worry bout the voltage as changing it is too much hassle and the 6990M at least on the UK version is set to 0.90 and 1.10 and that is it without hardwiring it which is a total no go area. To overclock simply fire up Trixx and raise the core and memory by small increments 5mhz etc at a time and see if it is stable by running a Furmark stress test. You can raise it 10mhz at a time to begin with for the first 100mhz and then drop it to 5mhz. You should easily be able to run at 800/1000 as this is a simple overclock. Anything above that you may lock up/bsod/crash and if the memory is too high you might see artifacts or lock up. When you start to see problems restart the system drop it down a bit stress test for 10-15 mins / benchmark and run a game for a while and if you see no problems, bingo.

This card is powerful enough without overclocking however you do not really need to I am just a power hungry junky, 800/1000 is more than satisfactory if you want a little extra lift in performance. Overclocks wont make miracles happen though.

    Ok discovered what it was...

Go into at catalyst control centre
The go into gaming 3d application setting and select default. Somehow mine had changed maybe a game had done it not sure.. Actually whilst in there make sure all settings are default.

    Now I have 3587 points....wohoooot
    AMD Radeon HD 6990M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2820QM Processor,CLEVO P170HMx score: P3587 3DMarks

Just a further addition it seems the disabling of core parking has given me some additional points. Had 3563 when i first installed win 7 64 so by disabling the core parking got some 24 points extra. Certainly worth disabling it. ps I am on balanced power mode for the two settings. :))))))))))))))))))

The max voltage on the 6970-6990m is 1.1v. That's limited by the card. Unless you mod the card, you won't be able to get higher voltage by any software means including VBIOS. You can undervolt like crazy though. I run 1.0v with stock clocks and temps easily drop about 10*C. I have mine all setup with hotkeys using ATI tray tools.
    Idle: 100/150 @ .750v
    Stock clocks: 715/900 @ 1.0v
    Overclocked: 800/1075 @1.075v
100% stable for all three. Just keep in mind that all cards vary, and you may or may not be stable at these settings.

CLEVO/KAPOK 1558 is what GPU/z says. I live in the UK though so the manufacturer might be different.
