Hi, I've stumbled across this thread. I have a problem: my P170EM shuts down ~30secs after being powered up. No beeps, no nothing. Happens whether I boot to Windows, Linux, or just stay in BIOS screen or whatever.

Could this be this issue of the GPU malfunctioning and not reporting temps, in which case it shuts down to prevent overheating? If yes, how can I run without GPU? I prefer that to spending 100s of $ on a new GPU. Prema said he had a solution for that...

Only a custom Prema BIOS designed to alter the EC could do it.

Even a broken card would still send a thermal signal. If the GPU is indeed dead and giving you an error 43 in device manager you can also just desolder it's vBIOS chip and keep it in the system to prevent the shutdown.

If the GPU is functional, check actual temps with GPU-Z and Throttlestop. If they are fine unplug and replug the AC Adapter while the system is off and do the same with the FAN connector of CPU and GPU.

The issue is I can't do any of that troubleshooting, since the system shuts down seconds after I manage to boot into Windows/Linux.

Thanks I'll try that. I already tried unplugging and replugging the AC adapter, even taking the BIOS battery out for a while, but I'll try to unplug and replug the fan connector.

@Prema I can't see a PM Button. Can you please pm me how you did the temp detection workaround?
I have sold my GTX980-8GB of my P170SM-A+PremaMod and want to use it for Office with iGPU

If on battery, then it needs to be recalibrated or replaced. If on power, something is overheating and forcing a shutdown.

Be more specific, shuts off under what circumstances? What temperatures are you looking at? GPU or CPU etc.

I can not see the temperatures because the laptop turns off automatically after a minute on, there is no time to open a program to read the temperature

    See, its my laptop

I would suggest you open the laptop and redo the seating of the heatsinks. Check if any TIM has left anything bare, and also if there are any issues with thermal pads. (deterioration/damage, gaps in contact with heatsink)

If it looks ok, and you repaste, and it still does this, time for a repair shop.

Thanks for ur help, but I think I will send to repair shop.

I have no experience in moving the graphics, after cleaning the RAM, the laptop stopped sending the image to the screen.

Hi guys ! I have a quick question. Is there any chance to use igpu UHD Graphics 630, i9 9900 ES qqbz, in my Clevo p775dm3-g, without MXM card ? Is there any physicial connection, or withouth 100% working MXM is no chance ? Laptop will work with eGPU gtx 1070, so don't need dGPU MXM card. I fashed already my bios chip on the motherboard with CH341A programmer from - ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...skylake-kabylake-clevo-lga1151-laptops.821694 ), and CPU mode with pins. Laptop in turning on, screen is black , keyboard backlit is on, but after 90s seconds laptop is restarting, same after another 90 seconds ( loop). Battery is charging, fans are spininig, there is no beep sound, nothing. Thanks

@dragon2224 No, the system needs to detect the MXM GPU to monitor thermals, and does so at boot. Without the MXM GPU present, I believe the system fails to POST thinking there is hardware fault.

The IGP on your machine is unpowered (as in no hardware on the motherboard to do that) so no chance using it.
