Has anyone tried the new DX11/HD texture pack for Crysis 2?
Just ordered my comp (stats are in the signature), just wondering the performance a similar setup may be getting.
Cheers.

Nvidia demo'd two "unannounced" GPU's using the DX11/HD pack for Crysis 2, just before the gtx580m was announced. you can guess what the unannounced GPU was. it seemed to run smooth as silk, and the gtx580s are about 10% faster than the 485. so you'll be totally fine.

Thanks!
I look forward to finally being able to play Crysis, and on good settings.

I hate COD, I'm a huge BFBC2 fan.
The m249 is pure bliss. As well as my M1 garand.
One of my main motivations for a new PC was Battlefield 3 in all of it's PC glory. I saw a demo live at E3 and it floored me. -
its all about the colt my friend and semi auto weapons, and of course the g3 and the mg3
-
what kind of fps do you get with that rig?

I'll let you know as soon as it comes in, although I have a ton of new games to try thanks to steam deciding they wanted all my money.
Sigh. -
I play as a ninja in BF2 Bad Company and they had to go and nerf the knife which only effected console user yet they decided to nerf it for PC as well. After that I stop playing, I will come back when I get my gaming laptop (who knows when) but I have two many other good games to play.
I'll probably be on hot pursuit and dirk 2 for a while
-
lol for stealth i prefer the uzi. its so silent that when you kill an enemy all you hear is their scream
-
Ninja = Recon
Gol Sniper Magnum / M1911.11 / C4
Lightweight / Magnum Ammo / V Alt Fire
^ for the win rushing class. -
Nope I mostly knife sniper
it so satisfying.
-
i snipe sniper with uzi marksman headshot 300

Crysis 2 with DX11 runs great on X7200 with SLI GTX 485m...
Played some since I got my 485m cards and usually get 40 FPS average, nearly never going under 30. All ultra.
-
when they did that video, the reason it was limited to 30, was because the recorder was recording it at 30fps thats what happens in fraps.
-
I just check...it so lame how Crysis 2 is no longer in steam, I guess I won't be playing that game ever.
-
thats just cuz EA is opening up an online game shop of their own. just wait till theyre all set up then u can go for it after all
-
There *are* set up. And that's not it. Crysis 2 did something that violated Steam's Terms of Service. Thus, as penalty, their product was removed from Steam. BF:BC2, Medal of Honor, Crysis & Crysis Warhead are all still on steam. Origin sucks.

Icant play it on ultra with 460m sli. I need to use the lower setting, the extreme i believe its called.
SPecifically however i fail to see any difference visualy between the 2. However, my gpus do see the difference.
)
-
Yeah, it´s hard to tell the difference for me, too
.
-
So why use ultra then ? To satisfy ego ?
Look, i can play on ultra allthough i can't see any difference
)

You won't see the differences unless you get up close and examine objects. Like I was playing on DX9 extreme settings when it came out, and a part in the SP campaign I found a doorknob that I couldn't interact with. It had worse graphics than what you find in a Wii. The DX11/ultra upgrade was supposed to smooth everything out everywhere, so if, like in Crysis Warhead, I explore and go where people usually don't go, I wouldn't find horrible/flat/bad textures randomly. Basically, it should have been like that from the start. But since console users are accustomed to linear gameplay, and the game was built ground-up using the Xbox 360 as a base (as it was sandboxed), the developers didn't put in free-roaming gameplay types, and didn't bother checking "every single thing" because they didn't expect console players to find them. And console players did not. PC users did, and called the game horrible.
They released something 4 months after a game's release that was promised to be out at the start, and call it a "present" to the PC community. Don't bother reading into it, it's just a gimmick to get people to buy it. Their sales were abysmal and hackers plague their servers, assuming you can find a server up and running near you. If you can max it out, do it, but like you said, you won't notice much difference in the heat of battle. Better explosions though. -
For one thing if you can, you will go to highest settings, why shouldn´t you?
And then maybe to see if you can see a difference. And I only said it´s hard to see it, but not impossible, like D2 Ultima described...
Oh yes, the explosions seems to be better, that´s one thing you recognize not so hard
