so i have a clevo x8100 that didnt come with the internal tv tuner. i'd like to install one. I prefer having an internal and utilizing the built in catv port. does anyone know of the best card to get for this? also, more importantly where is the Mini PCI-express port located on this thing? my suspicion is underneath the keyboard and if it is...how do i properly take the keyboard off?

does anyone know the model number of this elusive factory option? can't find it anywhere and clevo wont talk to the public.

    Hello,

The spare Mini PCI-express port for the tv card is sat very close to where the processor is and the one for your wireless card is underneath your keyboard. For the Tv card just take off the screws around the fan intakes.

For the other, (Wireless) 2 screws far left and right on the underneath at the back, remove strip with volume buttons etc then unscrew keyboard and plate underneath and bobs your uncle.

As for the tv card I am at the moment ordering one through my German retailler for my M980nu old x8100. It comes in a kit Card, Remote, and adapters for the catv thing. I have no idea who makes the kit but as soon as it arrives I will let you know.

    Hope this helps

yes, please do let me know...it would help out a bunch. also, where do you live ? I want to make sure the internal is a digital receiver because im here in the states so an analog wouldnt do me any good.

if you look at the service manual there is a tv tuner section with pictures. you can clearly see the number "6-88-m57r7-6540" in a google search it pulls up "YUAN 6-88-m57r7-6540" but i cant find any specific information on it, which is why im curious to see what you end up getting. thanks all for the responses and i look forward to seeing what your german retailer sends.

The P/N of the TV tuner inside an X8100 is 6-79-X810000T-010
But I believe that you may need more than the tv card if your machine has not originally the tv tuner option (because it's a factory option). Check if you have the coaxial cable for the tv tuner and the Infrared Transceiver.

I have the CATV port... that comes regardless. but the coaxial cable that goes to it..no i don't believe so..unless its laid up in the motherboard minus the card. I infrared reciever..thats not internal is it? i'll have to look. I have the windows media remote /w usb external infrared reciever.

The coaxial cable, if exist, is under the motherboard.
The Infrared transciever is built to the external case but you can use an external one.

I'm not sure if the X8100 can fit a full minicard or only a half minicard. Mesure the available space, if it's 5cm then it can fit, if 2.5cm then it fit only to the half minicard.

great, i'll take a look tonight. now my biggest concern is if there isn't a coaxial cable laying in there, how am i suppose to attach it to the CATV port? im afraid that might involve taking the whole thing apart.

ok, so i need to revive this thread real quick. I finally ordered the Habey TV tuner (ATI Theatre 570) and when i took off the keyboard the coax cable was already there waiting to be used. NOW my question is... what kind of antenna port is that on the side of the x8100? its a non threaded push in style female plugin. looks about the size of SMA but everytime i try to google "sma push in" or "sma non threaded" or any variation thereof doesnt seem to exist. I need to know what antenna and connector to get. more specifically the connector. help!

is that the male or female end?

edit: that looks like an MMCX male and it fits inside of the female. mine requires fitment OVER the female and a center conductor that inserts.

OK gentleman, i've found it.. it IS a standard slip on F connector. I feel a little stupid, but i also dont know why any distributor i talked to didn't know either. i talked to Malibal, Eurcomm, XoticPC, Sager, iBuyPower and Clevo direct wouldnt respond to my emails or there service centers said they didnt have the information. thats ridiculous.
