Does anyone know how much is the fans' (CPU and GPU) general lifespan? I'm asking this becuase the fans keep spinning up at screeching high speed quite frequently, and it can't be good in the long run, can it?
On a side note, while I'm alt-tabbing from games I noticed that although the fans do slow down a notch, they keep spinning at very high speed even when the game is completely minimized. I was wondering if there's a way to stop the fans from spinning so fast when relatively not needed (other than closing the game, of course).

The fans will keep spinning if the temps are still high. Even though the game is minimized its probably still taxing on the GPU keep the temps high which will require the fans to keep their speeds. Are you running any temp monitor programs like HWMonitor to see what the temps are? The fans will only slow back down once you get back to idle temps (below 50C)

Thanks for that.
The GPU is considerably less taxed when the game is minimized, though. The only thing taxing the laptop at that moment is the high RAM demand. Is there something to do about that?
The temps are just fine, maybe 75-76 at most. I was merely curious as to the overall lifespan of these fans in general. How heavy duty are they, really? -
i bet ull wanna buy another laptop way before the fans give out on you. THAT heavy-duty

Just to clarify - we're talking about everyday usage of 5-6 hours gaming on full fan speeds. I hope your answer doesn't change in those circumstances -

I have my fans connected to 5V (max fan speed) and I never turn my notebook off.
I don't expect my fans to fail but if they do then I already have 2 spare ones just in case. -
And for how long have you been running this setup already?

Well ever since I got the notebook I had it set up to mine litecoins/bitcoins while I am away from it, I first used the FN + 1 key combo to max out the fans, but that stopped working for me after some bios and EC flashing, so now I had to wire the fans up myself.
Anyway I have only had this setup for about a month. -
I see. Thanks for the feedback, I hope it'll stay working that way for you as long as possible

i always use fn+1 while gaming and ive had my machine for 1.5 years now. all good so far

My dad's got a laptop from way back 2006 and its clogged with dust nicely. The fans work constantly as a result. And they are working flawlessly nevertheless.
I know you are super-careful about your laptop and you should be - it costs a lot after all. But dont worry - the fans will hold just good.
If they run all the time, its better than constantly spinning up and down. The spin-ups are more taxing for them than the constant rotation anyway. -

Please note that Clevo is not a manufacturer of fans, neither are HP, Dell, MSI etc. You should be able to expect the same lifespan out of Clevo fans as you can see in other laptops, except for the fact that Clevo seems to use strange sub par brands for their fans. They were definitely pretty loud and susceptible to failure on the old m570ru, these fans are A-Power branded I think. While I believe Clevo is still using this brand, it may have improved, also they are using some other brands depending on the specific reseller.
It would be nice if everyone could check to see what brand their fans are and try to compare noise levels. -

Just checked, my GPU and CPU fans are branded A-Power.
I don't think there is a drop in replacement for these fans because they have a stange shape.
