Hello guys!
This is my first post and i want to buy my first trully gaming laptop.
I live in Greece (we have a huge economy problem in my country atm but hey which country does'not?)
Well guys i did a lot of research out there about clevos' different models.
I also did preorder builds just to see the price tag of my dream machine.
I went at Koboldscomputers, notebookguru.de and all well known and trusted shops.
With i5 520m,ati radeon 5870 and 4 gb ddr3 ram +320gb the price it was around 1500-1600 euros(including pounds to euros)
One ordinary stressed day from where to order and what is the best confuguration i went to my local store and i saw -touch and played with one of these W860cu beasts.
When i was trying to figure out from what shop should i pick one i forgot my local store Plaisio Computers...(shoot me ,shoot me!)
Ok guys enough with the prologue.
I found this setup @t only 1000euros ,so do you mind to have a look at it and tell me if it fullfills your saisfaction?
Note#1: This build is prebuilded by Plaisio Computers and i cant add or change anything. They sell it as it is.
Note#2: Thats why i choose Clevo ,cause i like upgrades. So you will se that the graphic card gtx260m is not a super duper card but i am saving money (around 450 euros) to buy ati 5870.
Prebuilded (Clevo W860cu) named as Turbo-X Furious C720-450

.
Btw as i was looking at it and i see the bottom of the laptop there was an etiquete with clearing out that this model is Clevo W86CU, so it is or it's not the Clevo W86 0CU

i'm thinking 1k doesnt seem like a good deal to me, in US thats 1 312.9 and with low end parts its coming with, im not sure your coming out ahead. IMO you are better off saving for a brand new system with the 5870, and 4-6gigs memory, and the high res screen. Infact, your losing money if you buy this and then upgrade to the 5870, and you will want the 5870, there is a notable diffrence between the 260 this unit has and the 5870.

hi Qatatoniqa!!where are u from?i'm from greece too.

Hello Johnny , i am from Greece Alimos Athens.
i Would like to buy the same prebuilded clevo as in your signature.
So tell me are you happy with it? are you going to upgrade the Graphic card?
Do you play bad company? is this game playable with gtx260 card?
@steadfast9661 thanx for your reply mate!
the thing is that my option is really limited by price. i dont mind to spend about 1500 euros but those will be spend inside europe and that cause we pay HUGE Taxes when a prodict comes to Greece from America...
Also i really like kobald Computers but Pounds go the price to heaven with exhange currency to be at 1 euro=1.16 pounds...
If you do the math...Kobald is great but the currency kills y dreams from em...
So only option are a) my local store and upgrade only the gpu at a later time
b) from notebookguru.de a same same setup is going to be around 1600 euros
c) mysn + deviltech the same cost...
Really really i want to buy a clevo but you see i have to pay for my needs.
And the think is that i need the gaming power of these notebooks!
Asus g73 msigx740 are not considered in my buying list.
Thanks any help will be appreciated! -

Just wanted to say that the reason we are more expensive isn't because of the exchange rate - it's down to the fact that we don't offer the 260M, which is about €170 cheaper than the 5870M which is our base GPU.
I agree with what Steadfast said though - if you can afford a better card than the 260M then you should try and go for it, though if you have a shop round the corner that sells the W860 then that has its advantages too -
@ Neil Kobald
Neil thank you so much for your reply!!!
I repect you and your opinion is always welcome and must be considered!
I dont care if you are a bit expensive (a tiny bit) , as a shop, and that cause you provide the best services in europe and you also care for your customers!
I would like to be one of the "Kobald Family" user.
As i said before, you are not expensive, but the thing that kills my pocket is the ex rates...
I have done some configurations in your shop and are going to be about 1500 pounds with the best stuff inside.
With the ex rates the price goes from 1500pounds to 1750 euros and that is make me sad and i can't afford it...
I was hopping that if i buy the clevo860 from plaisio with gtx 260 is only 1000euro and then i can spend the 500 euros to buy the 5870M.
In the other hand the High resolution screen is not a must have for me ,as in most cases you loose fps at this resolution on every card...
Question to you,do you sell spare parts also?I think i can afford it to buy 1 or 2 items form you

Hi
NP - I know that when you spec up one of our systems and convert it to then the price is comparable to the large German companies but we never know what tomorrows ex rate will be!
We don't currently sell individual components though we may look to again in the future. One thing I would say is that an individual 5870M purchased seperately shouldn't cost you anywhere near 500 so perhaps there are some other members on nbr that can suggest a cheaper source? -
Wooohoooo! I bought it!!!,tested it!!! played(games and in general
) with it!!!!
Have you ever had a feeling that makes a HUGE smile on your face and you think you had an orgasm? !!!
Well i am in that state! Everything works fine on my Dream machine as intended!
Gtx260 performs just ok on mostly every game without drop the resolution (haven't tested Metro 2033 yet) !
Anyways I am saving for 5870m!
Thank you all!!! Wooohooo again
A big thanks to clevo!!! Clevo for a Life(time?) Hell yeah !!!
(this topic is closed)
Have fun! over and out! -
ok, safe to say there goes another one....pwnt.

As cool as the 5870 is, you should also keep an eye on what Nvidia may be offering as competition in the future. Nvidia cannot afford to sit on their ..... doing nothing now because they are losing sales to the Ati5870. I doubt many would buy the GTX 285M over the cheaper and more powerful 5870 so I am really looking forward to what Nvidia come up with.

man, I'm jealous. I ordered mine from Kobalt April 10th and still not here
But yeah, mine's custom and affected by the damn volcano so it's understandable I guess
Have fun with your great machine! -
